It was a good turnout, I had a good time and hope everyone else did too. Thanks again to Steve for opening up the shop to us.

Hey everyone I had a great time today. Thanks for those who did the compression test. I hope most if not all (okay not everyone....) were happy with their results. Dont forget since you were part of the first batch to help me pay this tool off. Once it's paid off I wont be offering the free 1 year check up compression test. I have about 6 more before its paid off so if you want a free test check up a year from now (or whenever you choose really) now would be a good time to do it

Post those pics too!

edit: Those who got the test done, please PM me your email so I can send you screenshots and the compression test file for your records!

Great meet, some got important compression tests done, others had a chance to turn a wrench and do some of their own servicing. Good fun, good work, good food, good conversation. We all learned more about our Rxs !

For whoever had low compression today...

04 08 MAZDA RX8 1.3L 6 PORT NON TURBO ENGINE 6 SPD TRANS AND ECU JDM 1

Sell the Trans for 400, comes with a new ECU to test with. Might be able to do a compression test on the spot to verify its good?

Thanks to Steve for the use of the shop. Hope you enjoyed the donuts and free Mazda Videos disc courtesy of yours truly (Jerry). The disc is made to run on your computers, MAC and PC. If you have any trouble playing the vids on your computer, just download the free VLC Media player for MAC or PC (link included on disc).
VLC Media player will play all formats of video and media.

Enjoy !

Those who might be looking for a Philly area rotary wrench for an engine rebuild or advise to find a Renesis engine, I suggest you give Jim of JPR Imports in Blackwood NJ a call (just google JPR Imports) . Tell him Jerry sent you and let him know you are an RX8 club member needing his help. He does great work but can be a little slow to answer messages. He is worth the call.

Cheers

Hey guys,
Thanks a lot for all of the advice!
Steve actually has the car now, since it wouldn't be convinced to start after the meet.
Thanks for the donuts and the vids, Jerry!
Two-hour hike for that engine, not bad. Definitely something I'll take into consideration.
I'm leaning towards getting a rebuild, just because the extra time and money is worth the peace of mind to me, but I haven't actually gotten a quote yet from Jim.
My other option would be to ask Steve to install a used engine like the one you linked, xdrift0rx, likely with a new ECU as well.
I don't have the expertise or equipment to install it myself, certainly.

I'd never heard of IR Performance, thanks!

Hey guys, I just spoke with Jim of JPR Imports in Blackwood, NJ and he is ready to help you all with any rebuilds or replacement engine needs. Give him a call right away. He is a master rotary wrench with decades of experience. Blackwood NJ is a near suburb of Philly, just off route 42 South.

Thanks Jerry,
We spoke with Jim yesterday about my Green, and found him to be very knowledgeable.
Hopefully I'll be moving forward with some sort of rebuild and repair plan this week.

Overall I think the tests were "decent" as long as you arent having start up issues I wouldnt be too concerned right now. Premix is the key

Hey you guys, I found another graph...looks like that previous graph was too high and out dated? This is the more current graph?

Those who had the test done might want to re-look at those results! haha

Hey the graph we had at the meet was the Renesis engine graph from moderator RIWWP posted in the new owners sticky. RIWWP states his graph is culled from data from history of hundreds of Renesis compression tests. Where is this graph from? Can you post them side by side with some clarification as to the source.
