I tried to put on my snow tires but the damn lugnuts were not coming off. After pouncing on them for a while it came off. I was able to get the left sides changed, but when I got to the other side, I could not get the key locks off on the right. They damn key kept slipping, so I had to take my snow tires back off, put the regular ones on, and drive to NTB on billingsly rd, where they loosened the lugnuts for free (what a nice preturkey day gift).
Anyway, do any of you guys have an air compressor and impact wrench? I was thining about getting one, but who knows if it is worth it (i only changes these tires one 2x a year (putting on snow tires and taking them off).
And happy holidays all

Alpha - Sorry to hear about your hard install experience. I would advise against getting an air compressor simply for taking the wheels off. I've also heard horror stories with air compressor messing up the threading.
Are you using a torque wrench or the provided wrench? I know that the first time uninstalling the wheels can be a pain, but if you torque it to spec, it should be easy from now on.

Just keep the garage monkeys away from your wheels. The clowns that changed my squeaky brakes mounted the tires with an impact wrench (they'll get a talking to the next time I am in.) Had to jump on the wrench to get the damn things off. The rears were fine - never touched from the factory.
You would think they would do things to spec, but obviously not!

I think Mazda Direct did one of my tires. In the middle of summer I had a nail in my sidewall so the tire had to be replaced. They got a new one and put it on for me but when I was changing my tires I noticed one tire was really hard getting the lug nuts off. I assume it's from those guys using air compressors to tighten the lug nuts.
That being said, I'm going to go in to get an oil change and also ask the guys to replace the brakes once again. They still squeek and it drives me crazy. Anyone have this problem?

Any thoughts about bedding in the break pads right after they put them on? A number of people talk about propper techniques in breaking in your break pads. I think on the next time I'm going to attempt that. The squeal still annoys me.

my dad actually wrote an article about that for ferraris natl technical magazine and ive done it with every set of pads ive gotten that evening. warm the car and brakes up with some light use, then do ten stops each from 20-0, 40-0, and 60-0. i threw in some 80-0 stops as well b/c its fun
you want to hit the brakes pretty hard, but try to avoid the abs if possible (its not major if you get into it though.) i was able to get the 20 and 40 mph stops done in and around my neighborhood, the 60s i did on riverside b/tw emrald and the zoo at 11pm or later. make sure you do all of these in the same run as well. then clean off your wheels b/c therell be break dust galore!

I had to get my front brakes replaced at 3000 miles. Ive driven almost 7000 miles and hasnt squeek yet. The only time it squeeks is if my car sits in a parking lot after it rains and the 1st intial time i brake it will squeek.
Anyone's clutch squeeks when its depress? I find it on hot summer days everytime i step on the clutch it squeeks but it will not do it when its cold.

I will be out tonight when the roads are clear and I will trying my winter tires out. Im thinking about putting weights in the trunk to see if that helps. Has anyone tried that?
Btw- does anyone here find my avatar offensive? If so i can change it.

your avatar is fine. i was out in the meat of the "storm" last night and was just fine. crusing on the highway with the suvs about 45-50 while people in the slow lane were going 20. on some of the backroads around my house it was a bit worse, but nothing bad at all. i was out and about last year during the big snow around christmas and, though it was harry, was fairing much better than most out on the road. its amazing how much of a difference these tires make!
that said its so great to turn off traction control and just **** around in a parking lot. its so much easier to drift in the snow
