Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment. Definitely the angle. I hope, but I better run and check real quick.

I finally spoke with Dave, who is our regional director at NASA, and he is taking care of my registration next week. He was excited to hear that a few RX-8's would be there. He said some folks drive up to 16 hours for these events. He also said that it will probably be sold out because the NASA Championship will be held at Mid-Ohio this year so drivers will want to get as much track time there as they can before that day. Can't wait.

Ra, the wheels look great. When can we see them in person? Get us some other shots.
I clicked on that link and it just showed me the same photo.

Nice wheels Ra.

I was just going to post Dave's info, but I see you got it worked out. Good job!

We should get together and organize what all we are going to take with us. No sense in duplicating some stuff.

Hey Ra, did you see the yellow RX8 in the Vineyard parking lot on Sunday? My wife and I spotted it quite quickly. Before we got closer I thought maybe you conviced Anthony to come with you but I didn't spot your car in the normal area.

Z - I have seen the yellow 8 there every once and a while. It's funny because I thought maybe you had convinced Anthony to come. I wonder who that is? If we find out, we can have a mini meet at church. Or a bigger one if any of the guys here want to join up, and have lunch afterwards. What do you think?

Sounds good to me. I'm assuming there's something going on in the afternoon/evening this sunday since it's Father's Day. I almost always am at the sunday late service. I might not be around the following weekend and the one after that is the whole 4th of July thing. So either this Sunday or the 9th are the next two weekends I'd be availible.

Hi guys. I need an opinion from some folks local to Columbus on a good service center. I need to have some warranty work done (squeaky brakes, plug change, etc.) but would rather not go someplace staffed by folks who are ... less than desirable. I drove to Cleveland to buy my car three months ago (in order to get the color/options I wanted) and I need a good local shop to use.

Anybody have a recommendation on a good place to go? Thanks in advance for any feedback. By the way, was at the Marcus theater in Pickerington on Saturday...saw a red 8 with strakes and clear corners. Was that anyone here?

Brian

They all have their problems, but Mazda Direct did my brakes, plugs, battery & starter. Everything's ok so far.

Byers and MD both have varied opinions, but the consensus is avoid Ricarts at all cost. I have my own gripes with MazdaDirect. It took them a few days to figure out that they couldn't do an alignment on my car because of the lowered suspension, even though I specifically stated that before making an appointment (the whole reason for the appointment). Even though Byers is way across town, I will be going back there. Frank Polina is great to work with.

I went to Byers to get a new key for my car, and the parts dept guy wasnt so friendly. He was nice enough to say to me: "you know this key is 50$" so I respond, well maybe I can get it cheaper online... and he states that I still need to get it cut. I responded I know, and he said well that will cost you 50$ too. I told him I went there before and they cut my last key for free. He wasnt too happy with that. and that was that. weird convo with that guy. Anyway, I get mixed experiences with Byers. I still havent had too bad of a time with MD yet.
One good thing I can say about Ricart is that when I recently got a flat on my 8, i was on my way back to school in athens and luckily I was next to ricart, and i drove there before it went 100% flat. TOo bad the service dept wasnt open, but the sales people were nice enough to call the Road side assistance (that comes with our warranty!).

I also just put my spare tire back in my car a week before thinking I may actually need it.

on another note, i've noticed a lot more RX8's lately. A sunlight Silver down in grove city (tim hortons), and a red one up by the hills market in worthington.

I saw another yellow one yesterday on Sawmill near Bethel. I thought success had the only yellow one around here.

Someone picked up a yellow one the other day from Car Max. Ink was still fresh on the temp tags.

Yeah, I've seen several 8's lately. Picked mine up at the end of March and didn't see another out east here for several weeks. I see at least a couple a week now. Just passed a Whitewater Pearl on the way home from work today ... appearance package. Looked nice.

^ and the worse thing is, they don't wave back! My wife looks at me stupid every time I wave at another 8 and all I get is a blank stare back. :/

I was at Polaris movie theater this afternoon and saw a Ti with a Borla aftermarket exhaust parked next to my silver 8. Was that one of you guys?

I second that! I've even driven right next to other 8's and I usually see the driver talking on the phone not paying any attention to who's next to them.

I had 4 bad experiences w Mazda Direct and will no longer go to them. They are clueless. Replaced a cracked A/C button, put the face plate off center to the right. Took it back, off center to the left, like a 1/4 in each time. Said please put it back in the middle. Put my winter tires on my stock rims, they never saw a TPMS before and put 17 wieghts on each wheel to balance, after removing the 5 weight stock strip. Each of the 17 are larger than the 5 they replaced. Asked for an A/C booster, they never heard of it and said to keep moonroof cover closed and recirculate on, A/C on high and keep car moving. Ricart installed it for no charge in 30 min. Direct said my RB exhaust may void warranty, I pointed out that it is a friggin muffler and asked what parts would no longer be covered. He couldn't tell me and walked away. I asked to "reflash my ECU with the current update" they had no clue what I was talking about till I showed them the Mazda Corp updates printed off this site. I guess they were wondering what to do with all those computer discs Mazda sends them. Sad but true.

Where did you have your RB stuff installed? I have been considerring going that route. MS is still tempting though. Prices are a little better too.

Anthony, if you get the REVi, I can help you install it. It's a very easy install, time consuming but pretty straight forward.

zokk, sorry for your problems with direct but it sounds very odd. theyve been very good to me and have always known what im talking about with flashes or tsbs. theyve never given me a problem with my intake and in fact have bullshitted with me often about other 8s that are in and what mods they have. i like the girl service writer better and usually talk to chris, the service manager, when im in but ive never had any issues with them.
