Some of you guys might be interested in the following event. I was reading Motor Trend and came across a Crysler test drive event that will be coming to Columbus on Aug 20 & 21. Basically, fun stuff for the family and you get to test drive the SRT6 and SRT8 around a test track and a drag strip. All that you need to do is register online at chryler.com/inspireddrive Looks like a lot of fun. The best part is it's all free and you don't have to feel bad about shredding tires and burning clutches Hope to see you guys there

Exclamation Massive Recall

Who's going in for this recall ("Thermal Damage Inspection")? Which dealer are you taking it to? I'm in group 1 so I'm still waiting for further instructions from MNAO .

Group 1 for me. I guess I'll have to go back to Mazda Direct and get them to finish the work the didn't finish the last time I was there. Just once I'd like to find somebody in customer service who actually did their job....

So now they can:

1. Fix the dipstick problem they "forgot to order the parts for"
2. Fix my squeaky brakes (I'm starting to sound like the recycling truck) (don't forget to order the parts this time)
3. Perform the recall (don't forget to order the parts for this too!)
4. Send me a survey this time so I can evaluate their performance

I just spoke with a mazda direct service rep and he said that we should be getting a letter from mnao about this recall if it applies to us. The rep stated that he is aware of this and is waiting from mnao on instructions and parts. So, I guess we'll just have to wait. Reading from this thread https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/new-service-bulletin-thermal-damage-inspection-66870/page3/
it sounds like were gonna have to wait until Aug to get things fixed. Has anyone got info about this recall in the mail yet??

Moving to another house? I thought your house was nice when I was there last year. If you did move down to that house in Hilliard I'd be about 3 miles away. I don't know if bad roads bother you but that streach of Roberts Rd to 270 really sucks as it's heavily travelled by trucks during the day.

I think RX8Rider made the dispatch this morning. It was an article about gas prices and gas mileage.

I can't find the web link for the article. Was it you?

I'll be at the Jazz and Rib fest today around 6-7ish. Where's a good place to park? Maybe city center garage parking?

FYI - I just received a call from Paul Lyska--the Service manager at Byers, responding to my inquiry about the upcoming recall. He said that they are aware of the recall. Mazda NA told them that the parts required for the recall will be sent to them in August. When we receive the notification from MNAO, for us to call and schedule the appointment at Byers. Byers will reserve the parts for us. I imagine Mazda Direct will have the same instructions.

Just dropped mine at Mazda Direct this morning for a cel I threw last night. Trying to kill all the birds with one stone (hmm - I hit a bird yesterday!), I asked if they had everything for the recalls yet. No such luck - I'll have to go back again probably in August.

Meanwhile, I get to enjoy the Mazda 6 4-banger they gave me. Why did they make these things with 4 cylinders? Gotta remember not to try to pull into traffic in this thing!

No word on the cel yet - I'll keep you posted.

Here's the word on the cel - I'm a cat killer :D

Weird - no major symptoms - a little rough idle. a little "choking up" the other night when I got on it.

Oh well - new cat is installed (they had one on hand, which should tell you something). I'll pick it up at lunchtime.

What do you guys think about this clear bra kit:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7989442860

I need one real bad, I see a new rock chip every day. But I can't afford to get 'er done like Success'. I wonder if this is worth it...

That's the best price I've seen. I'd like to do this, but I'd like to hear from somebody that has used this exact kit, to make sure it's ok. Sounds like a good project to do together!

From the description, the instructions doesn't sound too bad. The only thing I'm weary about are creases and bubbles. Its inevitable! When I was a young warthog and couldn't afford a prof. tint, and did my own, it was a nightmare!

This would be a fun group project though!
