Is Clueless
I haven't been seeing too many 8s around lately. Used to see a few a week. I also live out by hilliard-rome now though =/

Wow - just realized I hadn't checked in here in a while. Just turned over 110,000 and going strong. CEL comes on during cold weather. Seems like maybe computer connections, but it's too damn cold to look at it! It's not affecting anything and it goes off on the warmer days, so I've learned to ignore it.
Ready for another set of summers in the spring. Anything you guys like these days? I've never gotten over 15,000 out of a set of summer rubber!

15k!!! I wish I could get that! I'm lucky to get half that on summer ultra high performance tires before they are toast. I corded the potenzas in about 12k miles with no track days. The last set I had (were also 140 tread rated) lasted about 8k miles with 3 track days before they were "almost" bald.

man, what are you guys doing? i only had to replace my summers twice in 130k, including the two or three that got nails in them. winters were probably on for a generous 30k of that, so i got 30k out of a set of summers easy.
i always stuck with the potenzas because i could usually pick up a set of basically new take-offs for $4-500 shipped in the classifieds.

Summer tires, plus bonus catalytic converter BS!!!
A couple of summers ago i switched from the Potenzas to the Hankook Ventus V12 EVOs. I read about them in a road & track comparison article: http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...12-evo-page-10
I really like them. great in wet weather or dry. quiet ride and grips the road at high speeds. plus way better tread life than Potenzas at a much lower price.
On to another note, my CEL just gave me the P0240 code - catalytic converter. My 2005 silver 8 has 55 thousand miles on it so my understanding is it should be covered under the warranty extension. the question is - do you agree? followed by - which dealer (i live in westerville) should i take it to. what do i have to say to make sure they don't give me the runaround?

Nope, not me. No handicapped sticker/sign. I have a BVI sticker on the back of mine. We moved a while back and the owner of Byers is one of my neighbors. He has helped me on several occasions. But I still hate going there. RX-7 store is great but slooooow, and hard to communicate with or drop off car without planning way ahead.

Yup, they're all kinda sucky. Ricart replaced my engine, but didn't check the A/C afterward and short-filled the oil a quart.
Speaking of which, the last time I changed plugs was on the old engine. I have 65,000 on the "new" engine and haven't done anything with the plugs. Parts are on the way so this weekend it will get new plugs, wires and coils. Then I have a trip to Nashvile at the start of March and one to Birmingham at the end of March.
Still checking on tires, but I'm leaning toward the g-Force T/A KDW 2. Any thoughts?
Why do they wear so quickly? As our friend Anthony said, "There's only 2 speeds - 110 and flat-out"

I had a similar experience with Byers. They fixed my the original problem but didn't adequately test it and I had to take it back in yet again and complain. Was fine after that but it cost me another 50$ insurance deductible (bullshit imo) and the inconvenience of taking my car in for a second time.

I got rid of my 8 about a year ago. Got rid of my Accord as well. Was driving a 99 Explorer for about a year...V8...uh the gas mileage...LOL! I just picked up a 2010 Genesis Coupe on Jan 28th. Loving that car a lot!!
Hey Ra parting out your 8 huh? What are you planning on getting in place of the 8?
Later,
Ash

the service writers at byers are great, but the service manager (paul) is the worst kind of person. all kinds of issues with him, and when i moved to the subaru world i found lots of similar stories that i went through with my 8.
ricart was good to me, but i only took it there once.
does germain have service? theyre new, why dont you be the guinea pig

Coulda been me in Marysville. I use Boyds here, but only because they're on the edge of our parking lot, which makes it easy. You gotta watch them. One time they didn't change the filter. This time they shorted the oil almost a quart and wanted almost $400 for plugs & wires because the spark plugs were "leaking oil".
I'm thinking of trying Honda Marysville for oil changes. Anybody have any experience!
Time for new skins. Any experience with these: Nitto NT 555 Extreme Performance?

By the way, it's not too soon to be thinking about the Mazda corral at Mid-Ohio for the Emco Gears Classic. June 8-10 this year, less than 60 days away! Who's in? Here's a link for tickets: http://www.midohio.com/Store/Tickets...Corral-Advance
