I'm fine, everyone is fine.

I'm screwed- there's almost no way I can see that being totalled

puma- thanks, but I don't like soup:p

yea, stock tires- I was just done getting it appraised to trade in for a "smaller" pmt type thing- want a house sooner or later

Reaper Man,

What can I say? Oh, it breaks my heart - strikes too close to home. I have been reading about the stock tires in winter weather and was considering just driving the 8 as-is. I will now deifnitely use my old '95 Legacy for the winter.

Glad to hear that you and your passenger(s) are ok.

Hang in there and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the insurance company is able to offset some of the pain.

trust me, there is no replacement for good snows, point blank. like I've said, I shouldn't have been out there- and I've gone through different driving schools, ice raced, rally-x, auto-x/ tires is the biggest advantage or disadvantage you can have aside from the driver

the car is pretty much useless to me unless it's totalled

I hope there is enough damage to total her. I don't think there is though, all depends on damage that I can't see I guess.

THe car is useless to me if it's fixable really. As sorry as I am to say that, it's true.

I don't see how they are going to total it unless you have frame damage under the dented panels.

Someone here has felt the very same as you. Aratinga was rear ended by a dodge truck that was traveling appx 30-40mph. She went through a whirlwind of emotions https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/rear-ended-freeway-aint-pretty-34536/ and https://www.rx8club.com/lounge-4/city-pasadena-%3D-uninsured-motorist-42109/ . One thing for sure, she couldn't take the car back if it were repaired instead of totalled and not one of us could tell her any different.

She has happily reported that Roxy was indeed back home for Christmas after being in the shop since July https://www.rx8club.com/lounge-4/little-luck-roxy-will-home-christmas-48295/ (p. 2) That may not be imaginable to you right now but if nothing else, you'll know you're not alone.

Reaper Man,

$15K+ and it's not totaled? What % of the cars value has to be reached before they consider it totaled??

Thanks to your horror story I left work early last week in the RX before the snow got too bad - driving on the OEM tires was a challenge to say the least, even with a light dusting on 95.

Hoped into my old Subaru and felt much safer.

Sincerely hope it all works out for you!
