Excellent Central PA Run
Had an absolute blast driving my RX8 home from York, PA to Buffalo yesterday morning. I was returning from VA and had overnighted near Williamsport.
I took PA State Road 44 off 15N at Allendale towards the town of Jersey Shore. It goes off on a NW diagonal through some state and national forest areas right up through Coudersport and on to Olean, NY.
Excellent two lane road. I left Allendale at 6:30am and had virtually no traffic and saw no "smokies" at all. Posted speed limit is 45 MPH with lots of curves posted anywhere from 10, 25 to 35 MPH. Great scenery when I could get my gaze off the road ahead and managed to cover 150 miles in 140 minutes. I then finished off by taking 219 and 240 N into the Buffalo area.
All in all, I covered the entire trip in about the same time as my usual route to or from York, PA (15N through PA to 86E to 390N to 20A W) and had a lot more fun.
My biggest issue was I had a cup of coffee in the car when I started out and it got cold as the twisties started almost right away on 44 and didn't let up - lots of rowing of the gears.
