Excise Tax On new Car

Hi, I JUST brought a new RX-8. What is the excise tax I had to pay in Massachusetts and when? Thanks

My first year's tax took about 14 months to hit, and it was around $600. I just got my bill for this year and its $400. Sucks to be in MA.

Yup all that money for the privellage of driving on the worst roads in the country. I don't remember the last time I drove further than a mile without hitting a bone jarring pothole. That is of course if the road is actually open. I'm so sick of the retarded detours through Boston every night when they shut down the pike and 93. The detours seem to also have the worst potholes. I wish they would use some of our excise money and actually invest it in something other than the big dig.

Well, i am extremely close to just saying f it and moving to NH. No state income or sales tax, cheaper rent/mortgage, better roads.

Thanks! Yea, I can't seem to remember the last time they fixed the roads around here, I only see them fixing potholes. But then again, they dont even do THAT right, it always disinergrate into bigger size potholes in about a week. If I were you RPIRX, I wouldve moved to NH a long time ago.

Mass excise tax is $25 per thousand value of the car. I bought mine in sept of 04 and got a bill for $200. The bill I got for 05 was $400 due to depreciation. Also, tax is only based on the base model car and doesn't include any upgrades or options...

Actually, at the way the property prices are in MA, it's better to move to NH. Most of my co-workers that recently bought a house/condo gave up on MA because it's just too expensive. The way I see it, potholes are just inevitable in those states that see a lot of snow.
