Good MA Dealers?

Good- Quirk Mazda
Avoid -128 Mazda (at all cost)
I brought my car at 128 Mazda and it was the most horrible experience I've ever have had. I got better service from a gas station garage. The salesmen (Bill) talked to me like a dick. Pushed me to buy the car every three minutes, and even ordered me around the whole time I was there. The car was NOT delivered on time, I had to wait a couple of more days because they didn't do the paperwork. They DIDN't detail the car when the paperwork was done. There was stuff missing in the trunk (tow hook and jack). Some things was still dissasembled (spare tire pack), and some things was not even put on (wheel locks, tire valve caps). I wouldn't expect any of this buying a used hyundai let alone a brand new Mazda RX-8. I however did yell the living **** out of the salesmen and the manager, but that was the only way of getting anything done at this place. AVOID!!! PLEASE!!!!

I just had a very good experience with Ira Mazda. I bought my RX-8 there last Thursday. They are up there (North Shore/Danvers), but the salesperson (Marc) was great and the only so-so part was one of the sales manager that told me that getting the extended warranty would lower the APR. Otherwise, great price on the trade-in and they got me out the same day!

I disagree about 128 Mazda. I've had nothing but great service from them. They are now my preferred service dealer (although I must admit I only go for major stuff, I do my own brakes, sway bars, oil, and rotation).
I bought my car from Ira and wouldn't suggest buying from them again.

Ok, let me chime in about Gallery and Quirk.
I bought my 8 from Quirk, in a deliberate effort to NOT buy from Gallery. There's also a dealer in Brockton I considered, but according to their web site, they didn't have any manual 8's, only automatic (toads!). So far my experience with Quirk has been quite good, but keep in mind I've only had the car since June.
Here is my story with Gallery:
I bought my '95 MX-6 from them, and continued to have the car serviced there for many years. They were fine, I had no problem with them, I was happy, I had planned to give them first shot at selling me the next car, whatever it might end up being.
Now, one time I had had this problem with the transmission, difficulty getting it in and out of gear as I recall. Not a major big deal, but annoying. I took it to them, and they had great difficulty diagnosing the problem, but after a long time they found that some part had fallen way into the bottom somewhere where it didn't belong or something. I am not a mechanic. Fine, so they fixed it and it was ok after that. I wasn't unhappy.
Maybe two years later or so, I start getting the same symptoms from the transmission. Ok. So I take it back to them, and tell them, look, it's the same problem as last time, just open it up and do the same thing you did last time. And here is where they dropped the ball. They kept the car for some *three days*, and after the three days I called them to see what the story was, and they informed me that, well, we can't reproduce the problem, so we haven't done anything.
So I had told them exactly what I wanted them to do, and they did NOTHING, but worst of all, they left me without my car for THREE DAYS doing nothing, didn't call me or talk to me or anything. 3 days of having to get by without a car, so that they could do NOTHING. I was pissed.
But I wasn't ready to tell them to pound sand yet, because I had had a long happy relationship with them. But I was definitely unhappy. So I decided to call the manager and complain. I got a voice mail thingy, to which I left a message. I wasn't rude or profane or anythign like that, but I clearly let them know I was unhappy. So you know how they dealt with this loyal customer who had been going to them for years (for all maintenance, large and small, I'm not a do-it-yourself-er) and was now unhappy? You wanna know what great customer service I got from them, how they lept to make amends?
The manager did NOTHING. Never called me back, nothing. Just left me to twist in the wind.
So screw 'em, I bought from Quirk, and felt extra-good about screwing Gallery.

I bought a Mazda 3 and an RX 8 from Quirk Mazda and had a good experience both times. Seem to be decent people andwilling to be helpful even after the sale. Can't complain. I bought two Fords from Quirk prior to that. I like the Mazda dealership better, but they weren't bad either.

I've been to both 128 and Wellesley for service and had mixed results.
128:
I brought my car in for the brake pad TSB and an oil change. The service advisors I spoke with at 128 had a limited knowledge of the RX-8 and didn't know anything about the TSBs. I had to bring in copies for them. They did however agree to replace the front pads per the TSB. Also, they didn't carry 5-20 oil and said that it was better to use 10-30 (I was a little miffed that a dealer wouldn't follow factory specs). The oil was slightly overfilled buy a decent margin. 128 service works on a first-come, first-served basis so expect to wait there for quite a while. They seem to do a hefty volume of repairs every day.
Wellesley:
I made an appt a couple weeks before with their service advisor for an oil change, clunk in the front suspension and squeaky seats. I took a loaner for the day as I had to go to work. They changed the oil with 5-20 and fixed the seats. However, they were not able to reproduce the clunking. I wasn't about to argue with them over the phone so I let it slide. Hopefully, next time i bring it to a dealer i'll have the tech ride with me so i can reproduce the noise. Overall it was a decent experience and the service advisor (John?) was a nice guy.
