Good roads near Baltimore?

I just picked up my 8 about a month ago. I'm relatively new to Baltimore, and while I know plenty of great roads where I came from out in Montgomery County, I don't know where to go out here. I live in the city, and coming out of the toll plaza at the Harbor Tunnel is about the only place I can even get a redline in.

Where do you all go?

I'm itching to run it, but I got nowhere to go! I'm gettin blue ***** over here!

I go to Northern Baltimore county about once or twice a month, go driving all through the woods and twisties up there...
If you ever wanna go up I'll go with ya, but this time of the year is tricky with it being cold, darker, and more deer out...

Thanks for the tip - I was out by Rocks State Park right after I bought it - definitely some good roads up that way.

There's a lot of us from this area - maybe we should organize something

Been a long time since I've been up that way, Rotr8...

Just north of the line, Rte 851 from Stewartstown to New Park was a decent set of twisties, just watch it approaching S-Town from the east. There's been a ton of housing put up, and the borough cops watch it like hawks.

Other side of I-83 runs the valley where the Northern Central RR used to toil, and the town of Railroad fittingly starts a decent run on Rte 616 from there to Glen Rock. If you go there through Shrewsbury on 851, you'll be testing brakes on the way down to Railroad.

Both of those are more technical than racy, and definitely Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning jaunts. Faster, slightly straighter venues would be Old York Road from exit 34(?) of I-83 south to Shawsville, then up Rte 23 to the Maryland Line and meet up again with Rte 851 via Pa Rte 24. Ivory Mill has a curve that'll wake you up the first time you see it a touch too fast.

Best advice for any of these is a reconnoiter lap first, as it's been a LONG time since I've been through there at any speed. It is equestrian country, or was, so be alert for horses on or near the roadway.

Cheers!

Hey I used t go to school in baltimore and would go driving yeah, north of town. There are LOTs of nice roads outside of the beltway, it's very rural up there.
If you want to take a long nice drive, take Falls road ALL the way north. And by all the way I mean almost to the PA border. The whole thing is really nice.

Other option is there are lots of excellent roads around oregon ridge park, just north of baltimore county. Not huge staights for flat-out speed, but instead really nice twisties. Which is what the 8 wants :-)
