Got attacked by flood waters last night. Need help with repair shop

I called my insurance company and they told me I can take it to anybody I want but they have a few places that don't have to wait for an adjuster to come out and look at it. I used to go to nucar in new castle but since Piazza bought the Mazda dealer in west chester, I've had luck in taking it there.

Do any of you know about any one of these places, these are the places that don't have to wait for an adjuster to start work on the car? If not I'll just take it to Piazza
Faulkner collision, autopark blvd
Carlson's Autobody,
Young's autobody
Grandsport Auto body, E market street,
keenans on rt 202
3d bodyworks on boot rd
These are all in west chester

So i was driving home last night, came around a corner, hydroplaned and stopped in 2 feet of water. It wasn't there when i left, ha. So the car had about water in both the passenger side and drivers side. Got home at about 1:30/2:00Am and spent a few hours disassembling the interior. I got the carpet on the floor and the seats out and have it drying in my garage. Looks like most of that stuff will turn out fine, it's just slightly damp this morning and looks good. Problem is the engine definitely has water in it and won't turn over at all. I pulled the plugs, water came out, and sprayed wd40 in there to try to prevent rust.

If anybody has an ideas or any suggestions on repair shops that would be great.

Feeling your pain. Wife had the 8 yesterday at work. By 5pm there was only one road left to get into town. Thank God she made it OK. We've only had it 3 weeks. Got a basement full of water though. Up all night with that. Good luck to you.

get yourself some MAF cleaner and go to town on your maf. take your airbox out and let that bad boy dry. Clean your ESS sensor, it is to the right of your drive pulley. It is easily seen from underneath the car. Check your fuses and get another car to give you extra juice to help turn it over.

I sucked some water in a flash flood in FL last month. I did all of that and she fired up just fine.

yeah i cleaned the MAF and you can hear the starter kick in but nothing happens. The rotors won't turn at all. i wound up taking it to the dealer and they said they couldn't get it to turn at all. They did basically everything that you described, except for maybe getting another car involved. But they pulled the plugs, cleaned the MAF and check the ESS sensor too.

It's funny the one guy that i know there, said that he had a bet with one of the service guys that you couldn't hydrolock a rotary engine. Apparently it looks like you can. I'm thinking water is inside the rotor champer after the intake but right before the power stroke. And this wasn't a little bit of water, water was almost to the top of the black grill.

My insurance is going to cover the car under my comprehensive policy and with a $100 deductable it might not be the end of the world. Anybody have a gently used rx8 for sale? haha. There is bunch in the for sale thread, a very nice shinka i see.

So your insurance is going to total the car?

I am up in Binghamton and we got hit hard with this flooding. Luckily I live on campus on the hillside and we didn't see flooding up here so the RX8 was fine.

I'm not quite sure yet. An adjuster will be out sometime this week to look at it. The KBB value of the car is 10,500 and for right now it needs a new engine, bumber needs to be painted, and a new hazard light. I'm afraid this might be over the limit. I'm just preparing for the worst.

If it is totaled I think I've already decided I'm just going to get rx8. There is no other car that is this usable, sporty, unique, and cheap. If you don't have a long commute the Rx8 is a bargain because of the crappy resale value.

Sorry everyone but the car is definitely totaled. I'm quite saddened at this news and am not exciting about having to shop for something different. I doubt I'm going to go into another 8. I have debated it immensely but I think something a little more practical and cheaper might be in order. I looked long at the 8's but I think I'm leaning towards a 2012 Mazdaspeed 3. The used market sucks right now, even with 8's, new cars are much more enticing these days. I'm sad to be leaving such a great community. This community has helped me get to know my car inside and out. There is no greater knowledge about the rx8 then right here in these pages. This forum has made the past 6 years very memorable and also helped me to get out of more then a few jams. I hope I have the same outcome moving into the mazda3forums. On the plus side my sets of winter and r comp tires I think will still fit the 3. Also i have about a thousand dollars worth of parts for the 8 so look for some stuff for sale in the classified coming up soon here. short shifter, engine mounts, audio out, cell phone dock, gauge cluster and much more.

They didn't give you enough for another 8? Or you just really do not want another?

Despite the engine factor, I would say the ms3 and the Rx-8 have around the same reliability.

I do want another 8 but it just doesn't work at the point in my life. The mazdaspeed 3 is still fun to drive, has more room and is a lot cheaper. I'm not worried about reliability overall, but am worried about a used rx8. I got hammered on mine, luckily everything was still under warrenty, new engine and transmission. The real kicker that for just a few thousand more then a gently used 2009 rx8, I can get a brand new 3 with new tires, brakes, no history and the entire warranty. The 8 would have 3 years and 20 something thousands miles sucked out of it. The used market just isn't where it was 6 years ago. Even though the 8 doesn't hold it's value to other cars everything used is better prices then a few years ago, plus the 8 is at least 3 grand more expensive, and that is the sport model. A brand new 8 just isn't in the cards right now either, most of them on the lot are above 30k and i'm looking closer to 20k. 23,500 is a stretch even for the MS 3.

I've gone round a lot in past week. i test drove a s2000, mx5, MS 3, 2011 rx8, and a 2008 BMW 135i. I was pretty excited about the 135i for a second there, but it was 30K and brand new it was only 37K. At almost 4 years hold with 27,000 miles on it and only 7K off of original price, that just shows how high the used market is right now.
