Hi everyone, I wanted to introduce myself, I just purchased my first RX8...hopefully more in the future. Looking to meet other fellow RX8 owners in the area. I need to update my profile here a little more, but I have been pretty busy lately.
I just got a great car from Florida that I drove all the way back up here. 2008 40th anniversary edition that I fell in love with the first time I test drove one here locally, but they didn't have a good deal here that I liked. Well hope to meet some of you soon it would be interesting to see eveyrone and I might be asking a number of questions as a new owner.

Hello everyone, glad I found an HR thread here. Didn't see a newbie intro section, but I'd like to introduce myself here if that's cool.
Names Tim, 24 years old and Navy vet. I am from NY, but currently reside in Norfolk. I am married with my second kid due next week. I currently own an 06 Subaru Forester and 91 Chevy Silverado...I only bought the truck since I sold my beloved 04 WRX. I absolutely loved that car, but needed to save up money for the coming of my little girl. I've always wanted an RX-8, and was able to test drive a few before getting my subie. I am hoping down the road I can get an RX-8, hopefully sooner than later, but we will see how that goes.
It was between that or an Evo...and I've already experienced the AWD turbo fun, so I'd like to switch it up with the RWD rotary. However, I have heard mostly cons about the RX-8, and would like some input from local guys as to how the car performs. I've heard it is notorious for leaks, which I would assume could be easily fixed.
Sorry for rambling, but just wanted to get a head start learning all I can about this car before I am able to get one myself.

Hey dude,
Go to carcomplaints.com and check out the very few nagetives.
Then read on how the rotary motors operate, you will notice that they 'leak' due to functionality, not issues.
Simple minds don't understand rotary's, so they make complaints that it eats oil.
Find a nice one! I love mine, for the feel, the look, the excitement everytime I enter the cockpit, its a driver's experience!

Just read the complaints, only 4 listed on that site which is nice. I'd like to go to one of the
meets and actually talk to some of you guys and get your personal opinions and views.
Edit - Was just reading through the thread to get an idea when and where you guys meet. Seems like it's been at Freedom or Jenro's...if you guys decide to have another meet soon, I might roll out in my Forester and just check out the cars and see who I can meet and what I can learn. Also, when I had my WRX we would meet at Towne Center parking lot, across from Dicks, every Saturday around 6, if you guys wanted to meet there, and just change the time, it'd work. The subie guys had permission from the owner, and it's just a big empty lot, no honda kids to worry about acting stupid like they normally do at Freedom.
Just my $0.02...I've been going to all the meets I could for a while now, and all the subie guys(at least most of em) used to go to Freedom, but moved to the Towne Center since cops were always rolling through the carwash.

So August 4th there will be a meet at La Promenade Center? I will try to attend, what times do they usually hold them if anyone knows? I am hoping to meet some fellow RX8s since I am new to owning the car and looking to hopefully learn a few things etc..
