Man this event just got a little cooler! There is a motorcycle ace that will be raffling off a ride on his race prepped BWM bike, includes full leathers and everything! That should be one hell of a ride!!!
Taken from VIRclub:
Nate has offered to bring his Morton’s BMW of Fredericksburg race bike, equipped for a passenger, plus leathers and helmet, and raffle off the ride of a lifetime to some lucky person. “It will actually be on the R1200S I won the National ASRA Pro Thunderbike Championship this season on,” announced Kern. Joining with Sasco’s Dave Handy, who is raffling a ride in his 1968 McLaren M6B Can-Am racer, Nate is just another of the local favorites who have stepped up to make the 2008 Holiday Laps bigger and better than ever before. “I will also have on hand the new BMW HP2 Sport, the most advanced Boxer engine BMW motorcycles have produced,” Kern added. “I really love coming to VIR,” says Kern, “and this is a chance to share that with someone, besides giving to the community in a way that is special for me and for the lucky winner.”

So, did anyone at all go?
I was sitting in my office, punching in pretty much useless data, poring through appallingly dry Cisco manuals, looking out at the dreary weather and STILL wishing I was down at VIR.
This place owes me a life. I'm thinking some sort of sacrifice. I've enough dead Sun servers to make a decent altar, and there's more than a few deadbeat customers who still have the gall to whine about service...
Nahh. The EPA would get bitchy about effluent runoff, and I've got enough paperwork now to choke your choice of equines.

We had a decent turn out...10 rotaries I believe, a few other Mazdas. The NC Mustang club had us out numbered 3 to 1.
The weather was against us all day, storms moved through the night before and rain lingered around all day. Made for some fun driving in the rain! Two stangs had meetings with a tire wall and a gaurd rail...figures though, last year they had a new GT receive $8k in damage, hah!
Pics should be posted soon...
Oh yeah, you guys missed out...I had a really nice gift to give to the one of you that traveled the farthest distance...an autograhed rotor I got from everyone at SpeedSource with a rotor housing to display it in. Maybe next time.

Pat, I didn't give it to anyone since I was technically the one who traveled the farthest out of the group. I still have the rotor, for now. I'll be setting up another big meet/Mazda corale during the Rolex race at VIR in April, mark your calendars. I'll save the rotor for then, plus I should be able to set up a meet and greet with a couple aquaintances from Hypersport, namely Patrick Dempsey and Charles Espenlaub.
