Don't see a list for rooms yet, but I'll split a room with someone.

I am trying to work out having a dash cam and have it up and running before the run. I want to record the whole thing Depending on compression, my laptop should be able to take the entire length if shut off during stops.

I need someone to split a room with also, so I guess that's a possibility.

The cam sounds like a good idea. I've actually been thinking about picking up a decent digital SLR camera, this might be a good excuse to finally do it.

Not sure if I can make this, but I love the Kanc. Once back in the mid '90s I took it on the way up to a camping trip in my just purchased 1990 RX7 GTUs. We averaged about 70mph for the whole length, and topped 100 in the passing zones a couple times. Good times.

I am working on planning out my camera setup. Made a post in the electronic section here looking for some advice:
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/board-camera-setup-169630/

Let me know what you think, opinions, etc. I REALLY want to record the entire run, but I don't think a single dash cam would really do it justice. I want the final video to be something better than what 1 camera can offer. I can't go all out on spending, but should be able to get something reasonable for $100 or so (considering I have the input platform all ready)

i am no longer going to be meeting up in Worcester saturday, as my girlfriend is now coming and we are going up to the condo friday night.

i think Best Buy at the greendale mall would still be the easiest place to meet up. but ill let you guys decide on a meeting spot. ill post up what the RX-7 guys come up with.

Definitely post where the 7s will meet and we can decide what to do from there.

The list of people meeting in Worcester is:

Saturday- Meeting up in Worcester for Cruise up:
1. ::Rotary-Amuse:: / ZumspdRX-7 (coming from Worcester area)
2. dmc27 (coming from Rhode Island)
3. canofworms (probably linking up with dmc27)
4. Ryan2008 (coming from Northeastern CT)
5. Descent (Bill) - Stormy Blue, coming from south of Boston

If the only driver in Worcester is out . . . we may meet elsewhere. Where in CT are you Ryan2008?

Dont worry about compression. Due yourself a favor and go to BestBuy and buy a 1TB External HDD. Then record any way you want. Then when you get home compress it and edit it. Then, format the drive and return it to BestBuy within 30 days to get your money back. Problem solved.

If he's planning on doing much video in the future an external hard drive will come in handy later as well. That's assuming he doesn't have a desktop with plenty of space at home.

The issue isnt about how much space he has on his home computer, it is how much space he has on his laptop since its portable.

I know. What I was saying is that if he doesn't have a big-bad computer at home, he will need to hold onto the external drive to deal with video he records. Having a second, external drive on a laptop can also boost speed when it comes time to manipulate his videos. Though the drive will be crippled by USB (assuming his laptop doesn't have an eSATA port,) it'll probably still be faster than what's in his laptop (desktop 7200RPM drive,) plus having the video data off his OS/program/swap drive.

I have a solution. 1: it's free. 2: It's very good quality. but 3: it isn't mine

Borrowing a video set-up from work I didn't realize we had, and my boss told me to "take it home and play with it, get to know it". (In case someone from the field needs help with it, but still)

Only 1 camera input, but an internal 8gb drive that I can segment the video files automatically into increments as needed (say 100mb), and hot-transfer those file off as needed. about 4gb per hour at 640x480 resolution, with excellent video quality, so still some compression to deal with, but still a good option. And part of the 'playing with' includes a 320gb external USB hard drive. Which is ~80 hours of video, so I will have the entire run recorded

I am out on a trip this coming week, but next weekend I will be doing some test runs with it.

i will compile a master post for reference with all of the details. the details are getting mixed up in here, and it would be helpful for all.

im going to try to come up with a place for dinner saturday night. we will most likely need reservations. sadly Conway might be the only place in the area that could support all of us. Any ideas, Ian?

i figured we should all eat before meeting up, or for those with the long drive that didnt have time for eating, we can stop some where to get a lunch or snacks.

I will be finishing the details on the shirts and setting up my PayPal for payments. unfortunately, i cant afford to front the money to print a lot and sell them as needed so its going to have to be case by case. They shouldnt be too much ($20+-) and i wont be making any profit on them. i am going to make the price a whole number to make it easier; so ill be making pennies on the shirts, if it makes you feel better. (i think thats a detail that i didnt need it include, but thats ok.)

Can a mod please sticky this thread? The dates coming up soon.

here's what i came up with for a final T-shirt design (on black):
(i was supposed to be doing some financial reporting, but this was a lot more fun)

i think its a pretty basic shirt design, but i like it. if everyone agrees on the design i can get these printed.

here's how pricing will go: if i only make 1, it will be $25. if i make 5, it will be $24.40 each. if i make 25, it will be $21.40 each.

just to get a tally going, i will start it off. please note this list is if you can commit to buying one, not just if you like the shirt (compliments and criticism is welcome though.)

1. ZumspdRX-7: 2 Large t-shirts; Shirt total: 2

I would prefer PayPal for payment, so i dont mix my own money with the T-Shirt funds (im an accountant and i can handle it, but to avoid complications id rather keep it separate.) I can accept money orders and cashier checks if you don't have a PayPal account.

Please email me if you want to buy one (zumspdrx7@yahoo.com) as my PM box is almost full. please include:
Name, Screenname, Shirt Size, Quantity, Payment type, and if you want it shipped out (+$3.50 include address) or if you will be picking it up at the event.

I dont know about everyone else, but i am getting pretty excited about this meet. i drove my FD over 300 miles in 24 hours friday and saturday, and i cant wait to drive all over New Hampshire.

I apologize for the cluster of details right now. I will have them all worked out shortly.

10:30: cruise from Bear Notch Run to Synaptic 3 Engineering Shop Cruise to Synaptic3

I will PM everyone my phone number before the event, that way you can call me in case you are running late. I understand there are a lot of people coming up from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and one from Maryland for this event and that would be horrible if we left without you. Please try to get to the meeting point early though. I will most likely be at the Tilton Island Park for 10, so look for a all Black RX-7.

Things to Bring:
Your car in good working order.
A friend or 3 (depending on what vehicle you are bringing.)
Tools
Oil
Coolant (If need be. I always bring mine just in case.)
Water and other drinks
Snacks
Gas money
Food money
Map of Area
Print out of the Maps above, or at least the directions
Cell phone
Walkie Talkie

Rules:
I want this event to go off as smoothly as possible and I want all attendants to be as safe as possible. Responsible driving will be expected at all times. The roads we will be driving on will be open to the public, meaning there will be traffic going both ways. No cutting corners on the mountain roads.

You will get one warning if you are driving irresponsibly. The second notice will be a request to leave the cruise. I don't want to be a buzzkill, but i don't want anyone getting hurt. One irresponsible person could ruin a whole weekend for everyone.

Its kind of a common law, but please don't litter. What we take with us we will take out with us. The country is beautiful and we should try to preserve it as such.

No speeding, highway roads or back roads.

Have fun. We are here for that one thing. So lets make this a great event that we can hopefully make an annual occurrence.

T-shirts:

Price: $23. (The price to print one is $25, the price to print 5 is $24.40 each, the price to get 10 is $23.65 each, and so on. I Imagine we will get at least 10 requests, so I will set the price at $23. i am not going to make any money on this, but I will need to at least cover the costs to make them.)

T-shirts will be available for this cruise and you can either have them mailed to you or pick them up at the event.

Unfortunately i cannot front the money to print up a lot of different sizes, so you will have to prepay for them. I would prefer PayPal for payment, but will accept a Money order or Cashier's check.

If you would like a T-shirt please email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com with the title "Kancamagus T-Shirt" and include your name, t-shirt size, t-shirt quantity, preferred payment, PayPal account if applicable, way of picking it up (at event or mailed to you,) if mailed out please include an address for me to mail it to.

Thanks for helping make this happen. Lets try to make this the best event that we can.

I hope to see you all there. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com

Looks great. I can't wait.

I have to test out mounting and angles, but I have my camera set-up. Borrowed from work. (Actually my boss told me to 'take it home, play with it, get to know it') It works well, and I have space for ~80 hours of video on 640x480 30fps

I will also have laptop + cell card for pulling up just about anything geographically related if needed while on the run

There is going to be a raffle at the BBQ of various performance parts, courtesy of Synaptic3.

Synaptic3 will have their new dyno up and running for the event and you can purchase dyno runs at the event.
  • I will have the price of the dyno runs up as soon as i get it.
  • They have a set up on their dyno that will allow drag racing between two cars at the same time.
  • They are computer tuners of various softwares, but I am not sure if they will be doing dyno tunes or just runs. As soon as I know that info I will post it up.

We are trying to get a final head count for the event. If you are definitely going, please email me at ZumSpdRX-7@yahoo.com
