Kancamagus Rotary Run July 11-12 2009
I apologize for having to cancel the first cruise attempt, but hopefully we see the same interest and then some this time around. The plan is the same as the original.
I hope to see you there.
I hope to see you there.
Here's the Official Game Plan:
Rotary Amuse / Synaptic3 Rotary Run 2009
Saturday July 11th Schedule:
Meeting Place: Exit 20 off of Route 93 in Tilton, NH at Tilton Island Park
Saturday Meeeting Place
Meeting Time: 11:00am
Saturday Schedule:
11:00: Meet up at Tilton Island Park
11:20: Driver's Meeting
11:30: Start Drive
Saturday Cruise Map 190+- miles, 5 and half + hours of driving. Kancamagus Highway and Hurricane Mountain Road.
Lunctime: G&H Pizza in Lincoln, NH. No set time as it will be when we get there
7:30: Dinner after cruise ends. Tentative time as we will site see along the way. I will make reservations at a restaurant that can support all of us for 7:30.
End cruise in Conway, Nh. Please try to find a hotel in the area. We are trying to find a hotel that will give us a discount.
Sunday Schedule:
8:00am: Meet at Hotel where everyone is staying.
8:20: Drivers Meeting
8:30: Start Cruise to Bear Notch Bear Notch Cruise
10:30: cruise from Bear Notch Run to Synaptic 3 Engineering Shop Cruise to Synaptic3
1:30: Synaptic3: Meet and Greet, Shop Tour, BBQ, dyno runs
I will PM everyone my phone number before the event, that way you can call me in case you are running late. I understand there are a lot of people coming up from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and one from Maryland for this event and that would be horrible if we left without you. Please try to get to the meeting point early though. I will most likely be at the Tilton Island Park for 10, so look for a all Black RX-7.
Things to Bring:
Your car in good working order.
A friend or 3 (depending on what vehicle you are bringing.)
Tools
Oil
Coolant (If need be. I always bring mine just in case.)
Water and other drinks
Snacks
Gas money
Food money
Map of Area
Print out of the Maps above, or at least the directions
Cell phone
Walkie Talkie
Rules:
I want this event to go off as smoothly as possible and I want all attendants to be as safe as possible. Responsible driving will be expected at all times. The roads we will be driving on will be open to the public, meaning there will be traffic going both ways. No cutting corners on the mountain roads.
You will get one warning if you are driving irresponsibly. The second notice will be a request to leave the cruise. I don't want to be a buzzkill, but i don't want anyone getting hurt. One irresponsible person could ruin a whole weekend for everyone.
Its kind of a common law, but please don't litter. What we take with us we will take out with us. The country is beautiful and we should try to preserve it as such.
No speeding, highway roads or back roads.
Have fun. We are here for that one thing. So lets make this a great event that we can hopefully make an annual occurrence.
T-shirts:
Price: $23. (The price to print one is $25, the price to print 5 is $24.40 each, the price to get 10 is $23.65 each, and so on. I Imagine we will get at least 10 requests, so I will set the price at $23. i am not going to make any money on this, but I will need to at least cover the costs to make them.)
T-shirts will be available for this cruise and you can either have them mailed to you or pick them up at the event.
Unfortunately i cannot front the money to print up a lot of different sizes, so you will have to prepay for them. I would prefer PayPal for payment, but will accept a Money order or Cashier's check.
If you would like a T-shirt please email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com with the title "Kancamagus T-Shirt" and include your name, t-shirt size, t-shirt quantity, preferred payment, PayPal account if applicable, way of picking it up (at event or mailed to you,) if mailed out please include an address for me to mail it to.
Thanks for helping make this happen. Lets try to make this the best event that we can.
I hope to see you all there. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com
All T-shirt purchasers will be entered into a Raffle for a Free Synaptic3 Dyno Run on their new dyno. One raffle ticket per t-shirt bought.
There is going to be a raffle at the BBQ of various performance parts, courtesy of Synaptic3.
Synaptic3 will have their new dyno up and running for the event and you can purchase dyno runs at the event.
We are trying to get a final head count for the event. If you are definitely going, please email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com
I have a gentleman from RX-8Club helping me set this up. Today, he informed me that he had arranged to get a lot of goodies for giveaways at the meet with a former 8 member. Really good stuff.
here are the details:
I think this is going to be a really great event, and between me, Ian, and the boys at Synaptic3 we are really trying our best to make this a great event for everyone. All we need are the attendees, so we would love to see you all up there! I know it's a little bit of a hike, but it will be worth it.
Any questions, comments, or suggestions, please don't hesitate to shoot them to me. zumspdrx7@yahoo.com

haha. i like your enthusiasm.
i took the RX-7 out today, and i am still having the heat sensitive issue (not that it would have fixed itself since the last time i drove it.) a friend and i are gonna take a look at it wednesday. unfortunately, if i cant get it straightened out, im gonna have to take the Legacy. that would be a hell of a tow bill if something goes wrong in NH. it will still be a hell of a fun to drive in the subie though. hopefully things work out with the FD and i can take it. wish me luck.

its about a 2hour trip from Worcester to the meeting point at Tilton, NH so i would say meet up at 8:00am saturday morning. i'd like to be at the meet up spot early and give us a little wiggle room for time. im gonna head up 290 to 495 to 93. that's definitely the easiest route there, i'd imagine.
would you go up 146 to worcester? the easiest meet up spot could be the Greendale Mall in Worcester right off 190.
ill PM you my number. if anyone else wants it, PM me.

Yes, 146 up to Worcester. 8 a.m. at the Mall is fine.
Mapquest tells me the way to the mall is 146 --> 290 --> 190 then exit to Rt. 12
Are there rest stops on 290? If so maybe meet at one since you plan to head up 290 anyway.

Updated Schedule?
Any word on the new itinerary? Still meeting in Tilton at 11:00 am? Has the run been "officially" been reduced to a one day ride? If not, I can only assume that we need to find a place to sleep in the Conway. If we are doing just one day, are we planning on doing the complete run or are we planning on cutting back on the route?
Can't wait, either way.

Saturday only. No shortened runs. We're hard motha f***in' core!
Tilton NH @ 11am.
I can't remember between threads . . . have radios been mentioned? We will be much better off if we have them.

like DMC27 (Dennis) said.
anyone other then DMC27 and RIWWP meeting up in Worcester? If not, I am going to meet them in Providence.
I am officially not going to be able to take the RX-7, so I am going to ride shotgun and navigate for Dennis. I contemplated taking the Subaru, but it wouldn't have been the same. You won't miss anything anyways.
I have some walkie talkies. Ill have to see if they still work. It would be very helpful. if not its going to have to be cell phone relays. Depending on how big the cruise is, we should have two master navigating cars. one in the front and one in the middle, in case something happens they can stay on track, give us a call, and have us wait for them.
Please, everyone bring directions of the cruise. I will give everyone my number at the drivers meeting saturday morning. If anyone wants it before hand, to verify that they are on the way, maybe running a little late saturday, etc. PM me and ill shoot it to you. meet up point is at 11:00 and i would like to leave at 11:30. please be early!!! we'd hate to leave without you.
I hope everyone's getting their cars in good working order (unlike what i could do) and getting excited for the cruise. it's looking like good weather, so it should be a great run. Please remember, this time around, the cruise is going rain or shine.
