looking for tracks around NYC area?
So yeah.. I just moved to northern Jersey, and shortly thereafter bought the 8 (my beautiful TG 04 6MT). I'm definitely enjoying it on the street, but I want something "more".
Currently my plan is to take it to the ice races up in the Adirondacs january through march (see icerace.com), which would help me master the car and (hopefully) limit the strain I put on the drivetrain, since the low low traction should forgive any roughness... After the ice racing season is over, the autox season should be starting, so I will probably get into that.
I was wondring though, are there any tracks around the general NYC area (I use this term loosely... I don't mind driving 3 hours or more for something like this), where you can bring your own car and "play around". Not too interested in road racing, just want a place to test the limits in a controlled environment. Autox is nice and all, but you're not anywhere close to the 8's top speed on any autox course Also, how much does something like that cost?

He's as bad as Can
In terms of where you can drive the fastest Watkins Glen (full course), Pocono (single infield) will be the fastest tracks nearest to you. Once your skills improve you can hit 130, I however still need some more track time. Fastest I have gotten is around 125 on the Pocono single infield. If you search for Watkins Glen & Pocono you will find posts and video by me.

Hey, keep us informed on what you plan on doing. Once I buy a helmet, I'd like to get into some of the SCCA auto-x action etc. I won't be competitive as I don't plan on building my car purely for that purpose and/or adhereing to the classification rules, but it would be fun nonetheless.
