Lol... you should have said, "Yeah I was the guy with the glasses who went to get money from an ATM, tried to get cash back buying a magazine at the bookstore and ended up with a copy of Biblical Archaelogy Review... and no cash back!

Yeah, when we went to get money from the ATM, we couldn't find an ATM at first, so we stopped into a bookstore. Tim tried to get cash back, but not only did they not give cash back, the magazine he bought was "Biblical Archaelogy Review". Hilarious!

I've pretty much gotten over the whole thing. I'll just be replacing it soon. Keep your eyes out for an '06 and up (not '09.. yuck) white gt mt and let me know if you stumble across one I might be interested in
Oh well, stopped at Hertrich Mazda in Dover this afternoon, there was a very nice looking 05 WWP AT on the lot. Couldn't remember if your order was for a MT or AT.

Sounds like a plan, any idea of date/time/location? Day before a track date is a no-go.

Just now crawled back in the house, sore, tore up and madder than hell. What should have taken maybe an hour, tops, turned into five hours of sheer aggravation and left the -8 on jack stands.

Tried installing the Borla cat-back this evening, using a pair of jack stands to get underneath to remove the OEM exhaust. BAD IDEA, PUT IT ON A LIFT! One fracking stud on the catalytic converter decided to seize the nut and back out of the flange. No problem, threads are OK, just run it in like that when the new muffler pipe gets ready. Yeah, right, that ^&*%$# spring's got something to say about that. Rain coming tomorrow and for the next three days, so if I can't unlock this nut later this morning I've got to get a new part from the stealership Monday, and the setup gets finished with me swimming in a foot of mud.

All because of my spouse.

IF she wasn't the way she is, I could have found out this little problem around 9 this morning, had the part before noon, been done and had the car all ready for Summit Point a week ahead of time. Nooooo, she HAD to be driven 35 miles away to get some damned book TODAY, the shop opened at NOON, all because she's incapable of remembering directions and Gods forbid you show her a GPS.

Enough. I type any further, there's going to be incoherence and pure Grade A rage.

Doing the freeze-heat-penetrating oil cycles this morning on the stud, trying to get that nut loose. Both ends are threaded, so the midpipe / resonator/ cat converter / whatever that is in the middle isn't damaged. Looks like whatever was used as "Loktite", well, didn't.

Trying to figure out why my hip is so damned sore this morning. Bracing the muffler / pulling it forward with my knee trying to get one 1/8" more so I could thread that stud on with the spring *might* have caused it, didn't feel it during the episode. The three calf muscle cramps, yeah, THOSE I felt.

Liquid hand soap works a treat getting the rubber isolators back on again. Getting them loose? Damn!

Umm, y'all remember my remarks about this area? "Chicken farms, chicken $^*!"?

No lift available, especially during the weekend. We have one at the company, but there's a truck on it with a really bust transfer case.

Presenting the hero of the day!

Tiny little buggers, aren't they? Those tips are as as thin as the SD card above them. Now imagine them as the smallest coil-spring compressor you've seen, and you have what gave me the 1/4" I needed to get the stud started. Standard-sized pair got the pipe retention ring leveled to start the nut on the other side, and twenty minutes later I was listening to the Borla's throaty rumble.

I'll find out this coming weekend on the Summit Point "Main Course".

One more thing to do, and that's check the 'sock' on the fuel pump. True to timing, I had only a couple evenings last week to attempt working on the car, traditional "shade tree mechanic" mode, and I could NOT see well enough to figure out what was hanging up. Maybe Olddragger has a photo of the connection points on the '04 pump... This may not be critical, since several test runs around here haven't provoked the big misfire that happened at VIR on the Back Straight. Still, having the "Zonk" at full known strength would be awesome.

I'm pretty sure I want a MT.

Plus, I think it would look kind of suspicious trading in an '05 WWP AT for an '05 WWP AT hahaha

But thanks for keeping me in mind!

Hey everyone... im back... ive been reallll busy with work and coaching a baseball team and stuff ive been way out of the loop... hows everyone? anything local going on?

so the 8 went for its first tow truck ride.... worst day of my life.. work sucked and on my way home my car lost half of its power and i pulled over and it wouldnt start... ran across 695 at 6pm 4 times for a tow truck driver who wasnt with aaa.. then got it towed back to work.. turns out my MAF came disconnected and it went into limp mode and it wouldnt start because of a blown fuse for the back rotor comp

i still need a pipe to pass emissions... does anyone know about the $400 repair bill and it getting you a waiver for a year?? my mom said something about it and i havent felt like looking into it..

check out the first album

Hehe, I am not going down the path of criticizing or making suggestions that anyone should buy any one thing over another: everyone should just buy exactly what they want for their own reasons, and I'm totally serious here, but...

congrats on getting a MT!

For those of you who may not know Moon, hes worked for Pettit Racing for the last 5yrs+ maybe more (Im not sure on the exact time) anyway he worked with Pettit to build what was going to be RX8 entries for the Rolex GT series but the entries were dissallowed at the last min becuase of political inside working with Speedsource being so thight with Riley Chassis. Pettit's car was incredibly qualified for the task at hand and even speculated to outperform the SpeedSource 8s -

Ohh yeah and they won the 1998 SPEED GT2 Championship(I remember watching this on SPEEDVISION now SPEED) - Championship don’t come easy, in 1998, Pettit Racing won the GT2 Road Racing Championship. This accomplishment is even more notable considering that the car was a 93 Mazda RX7 street car with only bolt-on accessories. At season end when the final points were tallied, Pettit had 140 points, which was 63 points more than the second place team. This same car finished the Daytona Rolex 24-hour race 4 times, successfully outlasting many factory prepared cars.

With the world famous reputation of Pettit Racing among the Rotary world Pettit's customer service extends far and wide, as an example when I bought my Pettit SuperCharger, Moon took the trip up the coast(from the Florida Keys) to install the kit with me to make sure everything was done the right way the first time... Our installation took only two and a half shop days with extra time and effort put into making the kit unique by painting the throttle body and alternator... Moon is leaving Pettit, on good terms, and will still have inside ties to the Rotary Tuner...

So what does this mean? We will have our own local Rotary tech,,, Moon cant wait to work on your guys cars,,,, I can garauntee you that he will be much cheaper in labor than any dealership and actually know what is going on with your car, no guessing games or "let me get back to you on that" attitude...
And besides, would you want your money going to the dealership or going towards this... Our little project STREET RAY, part of Moons reasoning to move is to fully dedicate himself to what has been a dream for the last couple years. He and I plan to build the first 3-5 prototypes up here and then move to full mass production within the next couple years,,,PROJECT STREET RAY BUILD THREAD https://www.rx8club.com/general-automotive-49/project-street-ray-159517/page11/
