Well, that's amusing.

Google Map "North Beach, MD", go 'satellite view' and look directly east across the bay. First place you land is Tilghman Island. Keep going east-noreast 'as the crow flies', and you pass over my home at the second speed bump to Ocean City, Easton.

There are some nice roads to run on over here, but the Talbot Co. Sheriff's Dept. does get a bit testy about "demonstrations of speed on public roads". Hell, they jailed some poor bugger who'd suffered a stroke, and the only way he could get about from his home was to drive a golf cart along the road's edge. Get three or more of the same marque dashing about, you might end up with outtakes from "The Blues Brothers" on the national news.

I'll be Elwood.

Seems a lot of fun but I need my coilovers. Can't wait so I can tear up some back roads. Oh yea, I'm about to order some coilovers from topgear8 from fluid motorsports(tein basic). Does anyone know how long it took to get their coilvers from them. I read other post but could not find the exact time frame it took other than simply ordering.

Tell you what, Jamie is FAST! I was on the edge of my comfort zone, and sometimes out of it, just to keep him in sight! Tells you something about more power. On roads that twisty and tight, you dont need power.

Only had two close calls. First was right out the gate f-r04 took off and I tried sticking right to his hind end. But within 2 minutes of starting out, there is a damn stop sign. Brakelights go on and I stand on the brake. Totally locked them up and got a tad sideway. Woulda been a great way to start the day with my bumper in the dude's trunk. I made sure I didn't get too close the rest of the ride. Safe braking distance can get away from you in a split second.

The only other "almost" was around a corner with freshly mowed grass on the road. Got all over the place. Thank god for DSC.

Water temps stayed below 200 for the whole ride. Oil below 225.

Very nice ride, very fast and will do it again. Thanks guys and very much thanks to Jamie.
You're welcome Chris!

It's always an awesome ride. I hated when we got stucked behind all those slow people but otherwise still a great ride.

And I extend the invitation to anyone who wants to go, drive and have a great time.

the TC ain't got nothing on me!! hah JK

I need help from the real locals. I just got in to my Hotel in Columbia, and noticed that I have black tar crap splattered ALL OVER my rear bumper, as well as some sort of residue from the rain along the roof lines. I had to have picked it up driving down here this morning, but want it off ASAP. I already tried a drive-through car wash, but it didn't even touch the stuff.

So anyone know where in the columbia/ellicott city/Laurel area that has a do-it-yourself car wash? I can grab the right materials from autozone or something, but really just need a water source and a place to do it.

Any info would be appreciated.

4 hours later...

So about an hour of wandering around to find something (left before you posted), and then 2.5 hours at the self-wash place, with the assistance of one of the employees to get the crap off. It was definitely oil based, and it coated every inch of my 8, leaving it with a yellow tint on the sides, hood, and roof, but covered in black crap on the rear and along the 'rain lines' off the headlines, fenders, windshield, etc... Seriously, it looked like someone hit my 8 with a Rhino liner on the back.

We ended up resorting to wheel degreaser, hitting it to break it, then quickly washing it off, one section at a time, then three overall washes after to make sure any residue was gone. I could only hit it with the spray wax, so gonna try to wash it again and get a real coat of wax on it before the drive back. Pissed me off.

Wow RIWWP, be very very careful with any kind of degreaser or detergent, you may want to put a fresh coat of wax on ASAP... Also I found a great product next time you need it,,, Its made by Mr. Clean its a de-bug/de-tar bar, its about the size/shape of a deodorant stick, and has a rubber wiper with a feeder for the liquid to come out. Works great doesnt eat the clear coat and you can rub multiple times as long as you keep the stick lubricated,,,

See ya Saturday,,

+100%

I was paranoid about the degreaser, didn't let any sit on my paint longer than a few seconds, but NOTHING was getting it off, and hence the triple rewash as well. Hoping to get the wax done tonight. Rougher when 400 miles from home and my products

Sorry to hear about your car man. You know how you might have picked it up? Maybe driving on newly laid road.

What is it with the roads recently? I picked up a piece of rebar yesterday. THROUGH MY REAR PASSENGER FOOTWELL!! AGH!
BAM!!!! [jangle, jangle] What the Hell? Was that my exhaust falling off?

Punched a neat little hole right through the footwell.

Seriously crappy.

My car wont start

idk its been sitting for a few days, low on gas, on a slope... i went to start it this morning and it just cranked.. so i tried the flood start.. nothing.. then after the 3rd try it started for like 3 sec then bogged out.. i put a gallon of gas in and still couldnt get it to turn over.. it almost started but my battery started dying.. im hoping it just flooded and nothing more... did i mention that yesterday i started the car and it was only on for a min or 2 and its been chilly in the ams... more the reason im thinking its flooded

ok so i got it cleared out... started was running fine... drove it twice for about 20 min each time.. no rough idle no loss of power everything seemed normal.. well this morning on my way to work car was running fine.. i was approaching a red light and it changed.. when i went to put it in gear to accel.. it cut off.. wouldnt start back up.. found it blew the 10a fuse for my #1eng cpu.. put in the spare.. fired up.. as soon as it was in gear and i went to accel it cut off again.. blew the fuse again... 2nd trip on a flat bed... ive yet to check it out...

anyone experience or heard of anything similar to this? cutting off apon trying to accel?

Money well spent

I have 2 grand and want to buy coilovers better than tein basics for my rx8 but also not too expensve so I can pay for install. I wish I knew how to do it myself but last time I tried with my 03 350z that **** was leaning a bit to the left front lol

Any advice on what to do with the $2000 on suspension?

Tein Type Flex are what I have, with EDFC will run ya about $1600, then get Sway bars, I recomend Racing Beat, or some Strut bars,,,

Or you could just go for some Koni yellows, sways, and pocket the rest and put inot something like a Cobb AP or an upgraded ignition system,,,

What do you plan on doing with the car? Autocross, time trials, drag race?
