You can get one from a dealership. But yeah do some research on the swap, its going to be costly. Many people on this forum just suggest getting an already manual 8 as it makes it a hell of a lot easier and cheaper. Your estimated price for this in parts will run you from 3-5k or more depending on what parts you get. The 09 trans is the best transmission you can get for the rx8, extremely durable and strong. It has a shorter gear ratio so its not as fast off the line but its really not noticeable. There will be a lot you have to do to get the manual tranny to work correctly in your car, but if your willing to pay no matter what the price maybe then deffiantely look into it. And let us know how this project turned out for you.

Yeah thats true. I would not let the dealership do the install though. Thats uber expensive in labor alone. With something like that they would charge you about 36 hours billable. They redesigned the trans for the 09 models so if your going all out with a at/mt swap I would personally bite the bullet and go with the 09 trans.

Sorry Greg, I'd like to go but no joy tonight.
Brake and sway bar job in prep for track time!
Related note: Local "auto parts" stores SUCK! I don't know what they sell, but it sure ain't auto parts. Neither Pep Boys nor Salvo even lists front brake rotors for an RX-8. Useless.![Cussing](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/cussing.gif)

Where's the next run at? I'm looking at "OctoberFAST" with NASA at VIR, since I cooked off a lot of coin (and brake pads, and rotors, and gods know what else) at WGI a couple of weeks ago. Fun birthday present though.

they don't even have a simple AIR FILTER, and that comes from personal experience.
on a side note, Does anyone need a rear OEM bumper? I have one with some scratches and a little bruise.

damn, I coulda used that if it were BB. Mine has a hole in it from where the rebar pierced on a hit & run. I just cant bring myself to pay for a stupid rear bumper when I can buy so many other fun things
Since the bumper was wounded in action i've purchased new engine, intake, wheels, brake rotors...Probably suspension comes next...maybe catback after...then bumper...(maybe) ;-)

Curiously, Salvo stocks decent stock pads, but everything else is a non-starter. Aisle after aisle of useless LED ashtray lights and other cheap-*** trinkets, but damn few real auto parts. Pep Boys too. I almost strangled one of the counter droids a while back because they didn't have a 3/8" barbed heater hose splice. Didn't even carry it!

I downloaded your WGI video, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I'm looking forward to it. WGI is fun, fast, and a bit scary! I've even kissed the "Blue ****" once in my race car.
I haven't done anything with NASA in years, but I'd like to. I'll have to check the calendar and finances and see if I could get to VIR three times this year.

Oh, forgot to mention: Finishlineperformance.com is great, but they are a bit proud of the rotors at $120 plus shipping. Raybestos rotors can be had for about $75 delivered.
I also found this joker on feeBay selling powder-coated rotors for about $70 delivered. Slotted too, but I'd ask for an unslotted set. I'm sure he'll do that for the same price...

The song of the Borla can be heard when I pass by in that video. The first pass I was last in line, and you could hear me winding out and fading into the distance.

I'm headed to VIR again. Full course this time. Fun, but not as much as the Grand in a twisties car. I bring a book to read on the back straight. New Progressive springs arrived yesterday, a week later than promised, so I won't be able to get them in. But I'm still going to try and hit 120 on the Climbing Esses. That would be something. I did get the MS sway bar in and might modify the stock rear bar tonight.

Whose "lost love" is this for sale at Koons Ford in Annapolis? Clear corners, Enkei wheels, the usual RX-8 Club mods? I saw it there while looking for a replacement daily driver / tow vehicle for the SYZ's track days:

Sorry for responding so late Rotr8, Totally understand what you are saying but at the time I got the car there were no other rx8's that were cheap with low mileage unless it had over 100,000. I bought this car for under $10,000 dude with with less than 60,000mi on it lol. I have put so much money in my 350z, so I could not afford a manual nor even find one for that price with lower mileage and so I thought just getting a manual swap would bring the price to around $11,000-$12,000 for the car alone which is not much compared to the time I decided to look for rx8's. I do know what you mean and I've read all types of threads on this and know what it takes but I'm not going to do the swap because I need to learn a little more before I start removing certain parts which I can do but just want to be careful and so there is a guy I know who can do it for cheap and he owns a couple of FD's lol and one rx8 that he does not drive anymore and this works to my advantage as far as price is concerned. It was the time I decided to buy the rx8 that really dictated whether or not to get a automatic and for some reason the automatic which is usually more expensive was a lot cheaper and in good condition and at the time I felt that I was lucky lol. IDK, I would have rather buy a manual in the first place but at the end I'm not complaining.
