So, I took my 8 to Mazda to get an issue looked at, 4th gear was grinding when I shifted into it. After dropping off my car at 8AM I got a call at 5:15PM that they have permission to open up the transmission and fix it under warranty, at least that is my understanding. I don't know how long it will be in the shop, but I miss it already.

I presume you've been through this before? What, specifically, is going on with the tranny that it needs to be taken apart?

They said they don't know exactly what is causing the problem so they have to take it apart to find it.

At least I should get my rental car today. Bumming rides really sucks.

Mazda 3 sounds good is that the best they offer as a rental? no mazda6's? I guess not, since the best rental they had for me was a G5...>.<

I don't know...I may have to get ANOTHER rental too, since the *******'s don't know how to ******* take broken glass out of my door when putting the new window in....AND! I'mma bust a cap in someone's *** if they give me more **** for that dent in my door....*******...it's NOT a sideswipe!

sorry...rant over... I'm calm...

well, lets see! shall we?

38K- grinding when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, from 3rd to 4th and from 4th to 5th. transmission was partially rebuilt.

48K- grinding from 3rd to 4th and sometimes from 4th to 5th. transmission was partially rebuilt.

58K- the story repeats all over again =( transmission was replaced for a brand new one.

btw, all the grinding only happened when shifting at high rpms

oh, did i mention that synchros are crap?! that was the problem everytime

Ouch, I'm sorry! See this is the exact reason why I'm on the forums, to get insider info and what to expect before I get the 8 lol

Man, did the warranty cover it for your tranny and synchros each time?

After my car is back, I was thinking of getting this:

http://raceroots.com/index.php/produ...cro-saver.html

Anyone heard anything about this or have any thoughts?

hehe you're going to get one regardless ( I see it in your future haha )

But yeah, they covered everything from rentals to parts to labor. the 3rd time i had to fuzz and bit¢h to them as much I could so could get the darn regional rep to come down and give the ok for a new tranny. now, from the first time I complained until the car rolled out of the shop with a new transmission, it took about 2 long freakin' months.

I have no input on this since I have no 8, it sounds like it may be a good idea. Here:

....but dude...seriously?

http://raceroots.com/index.php/clutc...t-bracket.html

You NEED to get this or the weld, Leshil. Your clutch snapping off is a little more important....I wouldn't risk it....but hey!

Your money, your choice....=p choose one and I'll get it for you for x mas...stop being a P and accept a gift from a friend sheesh...

mine went up the 3rd time when i had 58K and i bet you they were trying to buy some time until the car hit the 60K mark and then just turn around and say it was out of warranty. but i just had to play along with them and beat them

^ I hate it when they try to dupe you out of the warranty. They present it to you in a way that says as long as you are in the allowed time range, you are covered. Then when you go to get the work done, they try to find any way out of paying for it.
