See the forecast ladies & germs? Here comes the fun stuff! Coker, its you & me on the stock tires. I may have to sell the '8 before next winter so as to use it as the downpayment on a house. Thus, I plan to take full advantage of the "DSC Off" slippery funnitude. zoom zoom everybody
mrs. jackson, no response from beermonster, looks light he might be your Panera friend.
By the way, when/if I do get rid of the ride, I'm going to want to do away with the DIY custom switch panel. Anyone up for a trade? First come, first serve.

I have avon all seasons, but haven't left work yet. I'm in Gaithersburg, commuting back to Silver Spring down 270? How bad is it out there? Hope I make it home alright.

Well I made it home alright yesterday, but didn't want to take a change with the local roads that seemed icey near my house. So I car pooled to work with my wife in her Jetta. Now I gotta figure out how to get something for lunch with no car?

Actually, the stocks did fine even when I was tooling around with my friend & his sti in a parking lot with a few inches. As I said, fresh powder is cool, it's the slush that'll kill you...it looks like we may get actual snow on Friday now. Thus, I have effectively jinxed myself.

Snow!
What's up guys...
Well this morning I had my first TRUE snow experience with my RX-8. I didn't want to drive it today, but my MX-3 would not start for me.
All in all, not too bad. Granted, most major roads were fairly clear, just really slushy. The slush seems to be the downfall of these stock Dunlops. I had a lot of fun getting out of my unplowed street this morning -- the snow had turned to freezing rain a little earlier and it was just a big, thick slushy mess. I was really worried when I realized I had to drive the 8 to work today, but it did pretty well as long as I kept my speeds down. I'm more concerned about tomorrow now after the re-freeze overnight.
Anyone have interesting/scary experiences driving this morning in their 8?

nothing scary. I just enjoyed the white, fluffy goodness. Lakeforest mall is right across from my work. They usually leave half of the lot unplowed. It's like my own personal playground
oh, I live on a 30/35 degree hill. About 3/4 of the way up the hill (all slush) my neighbor tapped on the window, wanting to give me props for getting up the hill without a glich. I had no choice but to stop. Once I started...well, I tried to start. I had to neutral into a dry spot behind me then work up the momentum again. Meanwhile, my neighbor laughed and laughed, but I didn't see him trying to drive his Mustang GT...who's winning in a straight line now?

Hey Coke, if it helps you feel better I got the Mx6 back from paint a few weeks ago (lookED great by the way) and was on my way to work Monday when some large chucks of icey snow came off a truck in front of me and took off some paint by my front right fog light the size of closed fist. Sux, but still better than driving the 8 in this weather.

Sorry to hear about the paint mishap, macn'
Out of curiosity, I ran into a silver '8 this evening (Sunday) on 270 somewhere b/n exits 5 & 9. Seemed nice enough, as he came up next to me and gave me & the gf a nod. Just wondering if it was anyone on here. The gf gave me the ok to play around as long as whoever it was was up for it, but I guess he wasn't in the mood to get any tikets, so I stopped after a few seconds of weaving.
Anyway, I appreciate the nod. All too many times I'll see another 8 on the road & give them a little nod or wave and they look at me like I'm crazy.

do you wave to people who wear the same shoes as you do? just playin'
seriously tho, no one ever waves. i guess they're too shy. i did have some guy in a yellow 8, going the opposite direction of me, high beam me. that was cool, i returned the favor. but for an entire year, he was the only one who actually acknowledged me. the people on this forum are probably 10% of all the 8 owner's out there.

All - RX-8 engine failure and great Rosenthal Mazda experience.
My RX-8 wouldn't start the other day... there was a notice out about it... had to have my car toed - took 4 hours to get a flatbed out to me... luckily, I was in VA with my girlfriend - not a bad way to be stranded for a couple of days... anyway, Rosenthal Mazda fixed EVERYTHING and then some... I got a new starter that was apparently just released - it is awesome...
Just sharing the sad news and good news... ahh, I missed my 8 for those couple of days this weekend.
Share love... we should get together after the new year - even though it is cold as **** out.
