I haven't had any other problems, the headunit just randomly stopped turning on they told me it was a wiring issue, they gave me a good deal on everything including all the speakers I bought from them.

The Exedy stage 1 is an extremely popular clutch around here, and it's the one I was going to go with if I upgraded. If you buy yours from Ray at BHR, he will include a heavy-duty release bearing which is MUCH better than the Koyo bearing that Exedy includes in their kit. He'll also include the pilot seal, which for some reason Exedy does not include. Last time I checked, his price was $386.25.

Why are you abusing your clutch?
You can drive very aggressively ("like an *******") and not abuse your clutch. I track the snot out of mine and drive way too fast way too often, full-throttle red line twice a day, every day, and I expect my clutch to last beyond 100,000 miles. Abuse your tires, abuse your brakes, waste gas, but there is no reason to abuse the clutch if you know how to drive a stick.
Unless you are pushing serious HP from boost, or drag racing every weekend, you don't need anything more than the stock clutch. It should last the life of the car.![Smoker](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smoker.gif)
Tires, on the other hand, don't last me 10,000 miles.![Evil Laughter](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/evil_laughter.gif)

I went and talked to the "boss" of the service branch over at Heritage Mazda. I told him my issue and how I only wanted this "Heath" person to work on my car, and he said "Oh... Greg must have told you about us", hahaha.
Anyway I'm most likely going to have Heath do the work on my clutch. I am confused as to why it is more expensive to have an OEM clutch replaced than it is for me to just go out and buy an Exedy Stage 1. The boss guy also said that aftermarket clutches are iffy and that I shouldn't be cheap about it (I told him the Exedy Stage 1 was only $300)
Is there anyone that would advice against me going with the Exedy stage 1? It seems like a good clutch and lots of people have it

Hey fellow Marylanders. So it's been a week since Russel Mazda replaced the clutch and flywheel in our 04 8. The mechanic there told us the dealership (Browns in Alexandria) that replaced the coil packs last year installed them wrong and it caused the cat to overheat, fall apart inside, and destroyed the rear O2 sensor. First they tried getting Browns to pay for the replacement, but they told Russel Mazda that it was impossible to install the coil packs wrong and they weren't going to pay. So then, Russel went to Mazda corporate and tried getting them to cover it. Mazda corporate came back telling them no. So then, Russel came back and changed their story saying that the cat went bad due to lack of proper maintenance. Then they changed their story yet again when it started throwing a code (P0037) which is for the the rear O2 sensor (big surprise there). Now it keeps stalling out when it gets warm. My husband had it stall when downshifting on the beltway just the other day. Does anyone have any ideas or happens to have a stock cat that we can get? Trying to get it done by the end of the weekend.

I work at thompson hyundai and mazda in Dundalk and just recently they have us hyundai techs working on the mazda's a lil more if you want, we can link up and i can take a look at it. when i go to work on monday i will ask the senior mazda tech what he thinks, he's pretty good. and i have a few friends that work for russell and they are a bunch of rip offs and really just try to get customers out of their money. PM me and give me a break down of the whole story and what all started

Just want to give thanks to Rotr8 and Olorin2. I got my clutch replaced by Heritage Mazda last week and it feels great. I had Heath do all of the work and the price was very fair (only $400 in labor). I bought the Exedy stage 1 kit from BHR and everything feels great. I probably wouldn't have ended up at Heritage Mazda had I not been recommended there so thanks again.

Be heard, People!
This came to me from the SEMA Action Network mailing list, which you should all get if you want to keep the Camry-driving Safety Fascists from taking all of the fun out of driving your 8.
Even if you can't testify, take 5 minutes and drop an email to your state representatives and let them know you support H.B. 513 and ask them to support it too.

Great, I always become enthusiastic about this action.
Unfortunately I believe that the last time this was in front of legislators it was unanimously rejected.
I have been harassed by a single MP at Aberdeen North gate, and it was borderline threatening, promising that the next time I showed up with my car at the gate I'd be spending the night in jail. After 30 mins of harassment, I told the office "Im now late for work are you going to give me a ticket or not?" He did not so what the F#$*, just another ego centric Type A personality *******, no other cop officer or MP has ever given me a hard time abou tit at all, I mostly get compliments about my car if anything. I support this 100%

Of course I support this and I would gladly send an email, however I am curious as to how this type of law is challenged? What decides whether or not a front plate is required? What I mean by this is I don't want to send an email saying "I support HB 513 because I hate running the front plate on my car", as that would be sending the wrong type of message though it is the truth.

I'm very tempted to email a testimony, although like Greg said, its chances of getting passed are slim. I've been stopped twice in the last year for no front plate, but before that I wasn't bothered at all for over 3 years.
The last time I was stopped, the cop told me that he would normally just give me a warning, but his boss needed to see more tickets written. So, I got a $60 ticket. The time before that, I got a repair order AND a ticket. When I took the car to get inspected, the garage owner rolled his eyes and just signed off on it, no questions asked.
I realize fully that I'm not following the law to a "T", but to me this is like getting pulled over for not signaling when switching lanes. Plus, I don't want to mount a plate on my MS bumper. I'll just keep it off and hope for the best.

1. You hate running it. That is the right type of message and the only message that matters. The government works for you, and what you want it is sufficient reason. If they won't listen we need to follow Egypt's lead and kick the bastards out on principle.
Other reasons:
2. It's a tremendous waste or resources. How much energy is wasted producing the four million plus unnecessary plates? Energy wasted mining the metal, smelting it, forging it, stamping and painting the plates, storing them, shipping them.
3. It's a tremendous waste of money. In a state that is facing a two billion dollar deficit, not pissing away millions on a pointless piece of stamped aluminum seems obvious. Each plate probably costs $2 or more to make, so that's $8 million+ straight to the state's bottom line.
4. It's not needed for law enforcement. The biggest (and only) objectors to eliminating the front plate are the police. They claim pandemonium would ensue; frogs raining from the sky, grandmothers racing backwards through red lights to avoid tickets, cats sleeping with dogs, etc. But many other states don't have front plates, and states that have eliminated them found no increase in automotive crimes or difficulties in catching offenders.
Enough?
