It's the 4.777 diff from Ben's old 2011 R3, but it's going to Chris, sorry John he was all over it haha. Hopefully he'll use it to find some time on the autox course, I bet it's worth 0.5-1.0 second at least and it just generally makes the car feel stronger all the time. It will be missed! Jon I never asked but are you one of the guys on our enduro team for August 3rd? Oh wait you work Saturdays hmmm. Probably not then.

Ha just went back and read over some of the recent posts and I'm glad to see that the autocrossing has caught on! I'm looking forward to seeing you guys out at the future events! Sans my diff of course

That's cool, I'm sure he will get good use out of it.
I wish I could go to the Saturday events... this working for a living is bullshit. I wanted to take the level 1 school, but it's on a Saturday. The level 2 school is on a Sunday, but they said I can't take the level 2 school without the level 1... lol.
Oh well, looks like my next event will be August 11th back at Fedex Field.

Hey do you know if having a vented oil catch can is going to knock me out of STX?
Also I have to get a new helmet because they won't let me use mine at any of the SCCA events.

I was thinking about having a BBQ or something at my place the next time they have an event over in Frederick @ CDC (September 15th)as I live about 1 mile from the event and was wondering if anyone would be interested?

So I was looking around the engine bay today trying to see if I had a vacuum leak because I have been having a bit of a rough idle, and guess what I see... oil all over the place on the drivers side...

So um.. Nate did you ever get that oil line replaced?

So I just ordered the racing beat hose kit... I really am having a hard time reconciling the fact I just paid over $500 for some oil lines... and that was the cheaper option?!

Still looking, by chance? A friend of mine, Joe Adams, does nearly all the work to hit Collins Collision. They're a bit of a haul, out in Middle River, near Bengies...but he does show-quality work for a lot of the local VW people. He's one of the few in the area I'd trust to match up the paint on my 8. If you decide to give him a ring, tell him I sent you (Brendan).

Don't know if I'll be able to make that one on Aug. 11th sadly, It depends on how much $$$ I can bring in between now and then and how much ### I can lose haha I was talking to Alex this morning though about how were just going to buy SCCA memberships for next year since we plan on attending more of the AI and SCCA stuff.

"The installation of oil catch tanks is allowed provided the function of the PCV system is not altered."

this is from stock class rules, if its allowed in stock its allowed everywhere.

Look under the padding of your helmet for a snell sticker, that's where mine was. What kind of helmet is it? If you can find something online that says it's good then you can take that document with you.

BBQ in Frederick sounds awesome, I'd really like that, thanks dude!

Was anyone else at FedEx yesterday? Was much better conditions than last time, except we hit about 102 and the heat was effecting the cars somewhat, well at least until the skies opened up again and caused another huge rain delay.

I ran ok over all in STX, picked up time each run. But, right now I think my weak link is the tires as I am driving past their limits pretty easily. I am going to need more experience, more suspension and especially track day tires/wheels.

do tires first, the stock suspension is very good and it'll take you awhile to get good enough to where it's holding you back.

Sorry to hear about the rain delay, I haven't really had to experience that just yet knock on wood.

That being said, stay on the near side of the friction peak with your current tires and it will train you not to shred your tires up, I'm able to post similar times to friends of mine on good tires when I'm on crap tires, because they're sliding all the time.

Remember it's a lot easier to add speed in the middle of a corner than it is to take speed away.

A Frederick BBQ is a great idea and I'd be happy to bring food, drinks, or chairs from my place! I think you've got a pretty prime location being downtown and so close to the event.

Nate, thanks again for the differential, I am a very happy customer and have already put close to 200 miles on it. Hopefully you'll enjoy the additional gas money.

If you ever want to drive mine for a few laps at an Autocross to get the feeling back, the offer is always out there.

Well said, and that's what I found myself doing on the 4th run. As for the rain, I have been keeping track as I have had rain where ever I was during 34 of the last 38 days.

I would be interested in Frederick fun too. On the calendar, it appears as if the Sept 15th event is at FedEx. Am I looking at the wrong thing?

They have one on Saturday and Sunday that weekend, but I am only off on Sunday. So yeah it would be on Sept 15th.

Would anyone be interested in getting a little cruise together, either after one of these event/barbecues or as a separate event? Probably some time in September/October? I have a nice route that I snagged from some of my buddies in the Mid Atlantic Cobra Association and I'd love to run it with a little group. It runs up through Catoctin and Gambril in northern Frederick County.

Let me know if that sounds like fun to you guys. If so, I'll start trying to get something semi-formal together.

I'd be down for a cruise as long as it's at a time I can make it.
And here it is...

This is especially funny because:

1. I am actually a graphic artist/web designer

2. I was feeling lazy so I just found some web template for a BBQ to make this thing

...lol

Guess I'd better get planning.

Ideally I'd like to get like 10-20 cars together for a cruise. I know I have some non-forum-member friends that own RX-8s that might come along, hopefully if everyone can bring like 1 or 2 other people along we can get a good group together.

I'm thinking a little later on in the year so the weather cools off some. Maybe late September - October.

Non-forum RX-8 owners... I don't understand. How is this possible?
Do you know anyone that drives a white RX-8 with rims and carbon fiber front splitters? I saw one parked out in front of Brewers one night a long time ago.

I want those damn splitters but can't figure out where they came from?!

Anyone know any good shops in MD/DC/NOVA area that you can recommend me take my car to, to get my lowering springs installed? Thanks!
