What does the dealership say is the cause?
[QUOTE=StephZoom;4507461]
[QUOTE=StephZoom;4507461]
Anyone work on the car recently? How long have you had it? Flashing CEL? When were coils and plugs last replaced?
I've had this engine light on for over a year since the last mechanic tried to figure it out (and failed). All he could reproduce is a P0456, which I read in another thread could be fixed with a PCM firmware upgrade.
If I reset the trouble codes myself, the check engine light will stay off for 10-14 days and then come back with a different set of codes.
Plugs and ignition wires were replaced in March 2011. They reprogrammed the PCM at the same time. I have no record of replacing the evaporation coils. They were cleaned though.
I'm the original owner of the car. I've had it since 2004 and have been taking good care of it. This gremlin is the only thing that really gives me trouble. I don't know, maybe I need an exorcist, not a mechanic.
Thanks!

I like the idea of meeting at your place since you're close to me.

Well my next available day is the 17th. Early afternoon 11-2:00 would be best so that after we've injected these wankles we can take a spirited cruise to blow the rest of zoom zoom out.

We can all meet in the parking lot next to Apple Bees on rt40.
6505 Baltimore National Pike, Catonsville 21228
Theres a big lot where we cam all meet up at than carvan to, b.y.o.b i'll have a pack or 2 but not suppling the crew depending on how many people show.
If its not to much to ask $20.00 for everyone that's getting the Zoom-Zoom done. After which we can take a spirited run to blow the remains out.

What's up everybody... I'd like to try and make it on the 17th, but I'll have see if I can take off work that day.
Hey Jay, I'm interested in the Zoom-Zoom carbon treatment as well, although (knock on wood) the car has been running great. The only issue I seem to be having occasionally is a bit of a rough idle. I'll try my best to get that day off!

I'm down to meet everyone on the 17th. I could probably stand to have my motor zoom cleaned as well. I actually stopped by the dealer to pick up a few parts yesterday, RJayX-8... didn't know Brad left!

I had an interesting experience with seafoam to caution you guys about, I used it once and since then occasionally whenever I would tilt the car far from level it would start smoking as though there was additional seafoam in it that finally rolled into the front of the intake ports. I think if I ever do it again I'll find a very steep incline to pull onto at various angles.

Yesterday at FedEx was fun. I still need to get better at autocrossing and still need to get track rubber so I can spend more time improving my entry and exits to turns and less time trying to keep the car on the track. Got to meet Nathan. Me thinks he might be on the verge of moving full-time to a BRZ.
So are we getting together Saturday with Jay?

I took the BRZ, cleaned house in the coveted 'Prius tire cup'
Here's the results, I ran in STX just so I could be done early in the day, it was my anniversary after all
2013 Championship Event #5 Results
Aaron, if you'd like, you can co drive the RX8 with me next time if you'd like to sample the star specs, I plan to install the 245/40/18 set between now and the next event, hopefully we'll stay ahead of some of those subarus and scions. I'm also quite happy to ride along and give some constructive criticism if you want.
I'm not quite ready to jump to the dark side just yet, but the BRZ is a ton of fun on the autocross course. Stock for stock it's a lot tighter and has less roll, its more forgiving and smaller. All good autox things. I still prefer the 8 as a daily driver though.

Hey if anyone wants my used 225/45/18 star specs, they're very worn but would be good for autocross only if you have an extra set of wheels or if the 8 isn't daily driven, they're just about on the wear bars now, but if anyone wants them they're yours, let me know

As for the Subie, you really have me intrigued about the car as it is selling like crazy and the aftermarket support is far greater than what we have for the RX8, not to mention MPG.
