I want that nav hood.. if I can afford it. And the intake if you decide to get rid of it. I hate buying parts to support someone dumping their 8, but some things have to end I guess.

Wow..i think I'd be ready to let it go too lol...and 250 a month for insurance is insane, I'm pretty sure I'm younger than you with two speeding tickets and i pay like 80..but i know what you mean about driving it too, today us the first time I've had mine out since the end of September
I'm asking $500 for the nav hood and tablet. Someone in NY was asking about it but I would really rather sell it to someone local.

I have an after market radio and don't use this for anything but monitoring the car's stats.

Zoom-Zoom BOOM!
I'm with the other Chris; I hate to see someone sell their 8, but I'll definitely pay you for some parts. I'm interested in the intake if you decide to sell it, as well as any of the lighting stuff you haven't already unloaded.
What are you thinking about replacing it with?

This past week I made a custom motor mount and installed it Saturday, in about 2 weeks I'm going to check it to see how its been holding up to the beating, stress and heat.

Hey Chris Barnes, I could help pay for the nav hood with funds from the sale of your OEM wheels
Jon I understand letting the car go, if ever CDC is doing an event in Frederick and I'm there, you are ALWAYS welcome to hop on your moped or whatever you trade in for and come on down and co-drive :D
I'm looking to sell my spare wheel/tire and the mounting kit, I'd love to offer a fantastic price but it is a fundraising effort so if youre interested please consider paying the asking price of $231.764
These go for $500 on ebay, so $231.76 is friend pricing when a part of my fundraising effort. I'll put it up on the classifieds in a week or two if there's no interest locally.

I think I'm going to sign up for that, I'm working Saturdays now so Sunday events only for me, plus Bowie is basically my local venue, only an hour from my house!
I got my shipment of 245/40/18 GForce rivals yesterday! they're being stored for use next year to I'll be out on the old worn out starspecs! but I will strive to well represent the rx8 for us all
Edit: now signed up and ready to go, anyone who wants to run but not use their delicate or illegal cars is welcome to try mine, it'll be tricky on the tires but autocross is fun fast or slow! and autocrossing with someone else's gas tires and oil is even better !

Well I wasn't quickest rotary today! I was bested by a totally badass 300hp FD3S on some big old meaty tires, it was whistling and poppin and making all sorts of sexy noises and then whooped me by half a second :-)

I'm just wondering where you pulled that 3/4 of a second out of on your last run!
I had you beat with some high 26's while you were swimming in 27's.
Then you come along and whip-out the whoop-*** and lay down a 26.363.
I have officially had my *** handed to me by another RX-8. Well done Nathan!
Now that I think about it, I remember that I thought you had just the right amount of wheelspin for a quick launch on your last run...
Great event, great weather, great competitors. Ten runs!
Final Results - Max-43 - Sun 10-27-2013

Caroline hopped out to ride with some dude she thought was cute so I thought ok last run, I just lost 125 pounds and the desire to be all slidey, I put the game face on ;-) good to meet you out there today wankelbolt I've been a YouTube fan of yours for a while now :-)
Your car looked so stable out there, I'm looking into getting the RB springs/sways happy meal with a good set of dampers for next year now that I've addressed most of the upkeep issues on the 8. I'll be coming out swinging in March.
Actually there's one more CDC test and tune on the 17th in Frederick I plan to hit before retiring for the season, anyone else want to go?
edit: Hmmm....perhaps it'll have to wait, I've got a squeally noisy bearing in my clutch now, there goes another 360 bucks, it never ends it made it quite embarrassing working the frost on the windows in front of my car buddy neighbor while the 8 idled like a strangled cat.
suspension maybe next year maybe not *le sigh

I have a question about the AEM intake system. I bought model 21-485 and got it yesterday.
The first page of the manual says: "WARNING: ... The AEM intake system is a performance product that can be used safely during mild weather conditions. During harsh and inclement weather conditions, you must return your vehicle to stock OEM air box and intake tract configuration. Failure to follow these instructions will void your warranty."
Is this for real? I'm not going to install this if I have to go back to the OEM air box each winter.

This is what AEM support had to say on the issue. Fairly reassuring I think since I don't intend to drive my car underwater...
"Hello,
Thank you for your interest in AEM products. This is a cold air intake that draws air from the bottom of the car. Though this provides cooler air for the engine, it does leave the filter exposed. Whether or not you will experience what we would consider harsh and inclement weather depends on where you live and drive. If, for instance, you drive in an area prone to puddles large enough to submerge the filter during a storm, you would risk sucking water into the engine. The prefilter that comes with the intake is water-resistant (not water-proof), so it will deflect smaller amounts of water like the water that splashes up from the road while driving in the rain – even fairly heavy rain. But using this system in weather conditions that could cause the engine to pull in water is not recommended.

I agree with RJay,
But really the fact is that the Mazda factory intake is pretty awesome as it is and there isn't much to be gained there, in fact there isn't much to be gained with any bolt on breathing upgrades without enlarging the exhaust ports in the engine which is our bottleneck for flow.
If what you want is a high flowing intake that is optimized for making power on our cars, then your in luck, the rx8 already came with one from the factory.
*climbs down from soapbox*
You'll be fine just don't drive through any puddles deeper than a foot or so, the intake pipe sits up relatively high.
