I've decided to try and actually get to one of these (if there aren't any objections). Just to make sure, you're talking about the Loews that used to be a United Artists theatre?

Uh... Its always been Loews.. it was built in 1995 (i think).. as loews.. its directly across from the mall.. cant miss it..

I was thinking of trying to come up with a crusing route we can all take and dont have to worry about cops to much or brakeing for that matter.. :-D.. just all downshift and upshift.. I'm pretty good with turns.. but slow with speed.. so i'll catch up during the turns.. If yall can think of a route we could take that would be great..

I think I could make it next Thursday. I could probably just walk to the Avenue for Happy Hour, and then head over to the meet.

Hi macnrx8, you told me to do this here and you could help me.

I've done several searches and cant really find the answer I'm looking for. So forgive me if I'm reiterating something that someone has already asked.

I want to put a sub and amp in my RX8 but I want to do it without changing the head unit. I actually like the head unit in the RX8. I have the Bose System so I don't know if that will help with any answers. My main question is can I have the Sub and AMP installed with the stock system and it work fine? I know a friend that has an Lincoln LS and they did it with his stock system. His works great.

Thanks ~CAS

I'll need to talk to him then. I really want this done and was going to take it a audio shop a couple miles from me. They're the ones that did my friends Lincoln LS the same way as I want mine. Hopefully Mac will get back with me.

Thanks for using this thread. While many poeple are helpful, some will just keep with the "do a search" post. I'm sure that anyone here will help and add input. Anyway, the easiest and most popular way is to use a line-level converter. A line converter will change the speaker level to RCA(low level). I spliced into the rear deck speakers after the Bose amp. I just used a scosche converter. Walmart has them for about 10-15 dollars.

As far as a sub enclosure, there is the 4080 sub box, or you can make one. The problem is the trunk opening is only 12 inches without taking the trunk apart. Sealed enclosures typically are smaller and I chose the Kicker CVR 12" because it only needed .85 cubic feet. There is only 13" from the bottom of the trunk to the rear deck.
I made my box 12"D x 13"H x 16" wide. That made my total enclosure approx. 1.10 cubic feet and it is easy to get in and out.

i can give you hand with something like that. i do a lot of stereo work. what kind of amp and or sub are you looking at. if i get a chance i will post pics of the system i put in my sisters car like 2 weeks ago. i may even have some mdf still left over. the good jl amps have a high level input that is usable. i put one in a friends monte carlo and the sound was pretty good for high level input. whatever you use just make sure the speaker matches the amp power wise.

Here are some old pics of my system...A few things have changed since these pics. The biggest change is that the carpet matches. I used green neon fans that switch with the amp and a green neon strip light that comes on when the trunk opens. With the cover on you can't directly see the neon, and the silver sub reflects the neon. The pics aren't that great but it looks much better in person. The blue box on the lower right is the line converter.

BTW, there is Lexan covering the amp so that I almost have complete use of the trunk.

Very true...

Does your amp and sub match Cas2themoe? If your not sure let me know the models and I can look it up for you. If it is a 12" sub I have an extra box I made but didn't like because it is about 1.75 cu.ft.. The bass sounds great with rap and dance but was a little lacking w/rock.

You said that you live in Joppa? I have been playing tennis on Sunday morns. all winter @ Joppatowne High. It looks like from you avatar that you own a MX-3 and an 8. I own a 93 MX-6 and an 8...just an observation. I have one more day of tennis next Sunday Apr. 23. If the weather is nice and you want to meet up @ Joppatowne High around 11 am I'll be there. Let me know.

When can me meet up and see if we can get something done. I have the amp and sub. Let me know what else I need to buy and that would be great. I dont need anything as neat as what you had in the pics. I just want the amp to be stable. I'm pretty sure the box I have will fit in the little section in the trunk. How much would I owe you?
