I had the recall done, It drives much improved. They replaced my Plugs and did the flash. The car feels like it has much more power. I dont know for sure if its the plugs or the flash but my plugs were only 5k old.

It was probably the flash. I did notice more power but damnit I hate the fact that it takes longer to start. I miss my car starting off of one crank

One thing i have noticed though, when it does start eventually it turns over kinda hard and I really dont like it.

Yep sure do. I took my car in for that recall and all they had to do was replace my spark plugs

They obviously didnt touch the ECU (and probably didnt do the engine tests) because it makes ALL the cars take longer to start. Mazda intentionally cut fuel during start up to reduce flooding

Research what the flash does. In short it
1.) Cuts fuel on start up (needs more cranks to start)
2.) Adds more fuel for lube (check your oil and see if it is burning quicker than usual the next time you add some)

Or you could always call your dealer or mazda and enquire about it too. Its no secret what it does and has people PISSED because the cars take longer to crank. The big diff is going to show when the weather gets really cold where it really needs that extra fuel they snatched

Edit: There is almost no way you can take fuel away from a car and have it act normally especially when you need it most (on start up). Although there are a FEW people who report no change but then I wonder about the people that did the work on the car. By the way for those who question this info call the ever popular Frank Titus out at the pasadena mazda dealer or mazda north america ops. I spoke to frank directly about this and he says the same thing and so does mazda.

ZoomZoomH,
you might check your service receipts to make sure they updated your ECU or when you take it back for the center console have the them check your current flash. Many folks have noticed the difference in starting after the flash. I'm not looking forward to the winter as I have the older starter. Sometimes it seems to take way too long to light.

Enjoy the Drive!

Hehe.. I'm not taking it in for the recall. I haven't had any problems, and I don't want anyone but myself or my dad touching anything under the hood unless I know them on a personal level

well good for you mandy, it is nervewracking to have stranger hands under your car's hood. anyway, back from dealer, apparently I have 'T' flash now as result of the recall. They did cat check and installed new plugs. So I guess I'm lucky and have a really darn good engine

They still lookin for cars and bikes.. and also some hot females to pose on the cars.. and some males to pose on the female cars.. I'll be posin on my car with a chick i know that for sure.. :-D.. But the shoot will take place tues 17th at 8pm.. for reminder photog fee for models is $50.. he usually charge $250 for stuff like this.. so its discounted.. I'm pushin to let the cars be free in the shoot.. i'm goin to ask the photog is there a way that everyone gets a copy of the cd for like 20 bucks just cuz they brought their car.. or less.. :-D.. let me know if yall interested..

EDIT: Please note.. he is lookin for any kind of car.. long as its clean and something that could have been on Fast and the furious..
