Massachusetts

Hey i just realized there was a forum for regions, i live in MA where there are maybe 2 auto insurance companies. I was hoping there was someone here who lives in MA and owns an RX-8 that can tell me if the insurance companies here classify the 8 as a 4 door 4 cyl car like someone in the general rx8 forum said most companies do.

Amica Insurance Co.

I have an 04 RX-8 and it's insured as a 4 door sedan.

My policy lists it as a "COUPE4DR," which is pretty self-explanatory.

It's classified as a sedan but it's priced pretty much like a coupe. I'm not positive it's the same for everyone but it cost the almost the same price to insure a G35c/350z (50 bucks more) as it does the RX-8.

I'm paying 1.6k a year with about 4 years driving experince (yes I started driving a bit late lol) and one speeding ticket to my name (happened in the begining of the year and already got new policy). Its through Commerce Insurance also. They list the car as a Coupe4Dr no mention of classification via displacement like other states/companies. Believe its due to the state regulating it.

All I remember was it was about a $100 difference a year between the Mazda 3 (brand new) and the Rx-8 ('04). So it kinda made up my mind on which car to buy hehe.

I have no clue what I am classified as, but I do pay significantly less than my fiancee did in his 350Z.

Actually I pay $40 less per year than I did in my Celica. So I am perfectly happy with whatever I am classed as!

I think I'm at about $1500. Clean driving record, I think I'm a class 13? I'm 21, so next year (6 years driving) my rates should cut in half again. A bargain insurance wise compared to other sports cars. I was quoted $4500 for a wrx per year. No thanks.

MA has regulated insurance (currently anyway, not for much longer) so the price is basically the same wherever you go. It's set by the State, not the individual companies.

I live in RI, so not sure the difference, but use USAA (military) and I only pay $20 a month more for my RX8 than my Protege5. Total for me, my RX8 and my P5, and my wife and her Mazda5 is $300 a month (Yes we love Mazdas ) age 27 each, me with an extensive list of speeding tickets.

It's about $1,200 a year for my P5, $1,350 or so for my 8, which is classified as a 4 door sedan.

Full coverage, maximum amounts allowed, $0 deductible on all 3. Im paying more than I have to due to the coverage, but it is entirely worth it.

Gotta love it though, a luxury car interior, gorgeous and unique sports car looks, road course race car performance... classified as a 4 door sedan. Excited to drive it every day. I was even visibly trembling with excitement when I first pulled up at the dealer to pick it up, already paid for. Just sitting there glowing among Porchse's and Mercedes on the show room floor, the place practically closed, quietly whispering to me...

I'll stop before I get carried away... I'm sure you know what I mean.
