May 23rd Rotary Meet at FDR Park in Philly--BIG
#51
Food suggestion-
why don't we do pizza? If there is someone local to FDR they could figure out where to order it. After most of us arrive we could count who is interested, collect money, and a carvan of us could go and pick up a stack of them. This way, no grill problems, and those who want to eat can eat and be merry..
I don't know if the idea is worth cross-posting to the 7 forum or not...
But if we end up doin g pizza (or something similiar) it would be nice to know beforehand so that we can organize some supplies - like paper plates etc

For anyone coming from the Lancaster/York area, there is a caravan heading down. We are meeting at East Towne Mall (off Route 30) at 1:00 pm. If you want to join in, just show up at that place and time, and jump on in. If you need directions, an address at the location is
2090 Lincoln Highway East
Lancaster, PA 17602
We are then heading down Rt. 30 and meeting up with some more guys in Coatesville/Exton area around 2ish.
If you need more details, you can email me at blackttrx7@hotmail.com and I can supply you with whatever information you need.

Sue, I don't think any of us are actually local down there so the pizza idea, while good, may be tough. I think snacks are going to be the way to go. If after the event people want to eat a meal we can head to McFaddens, Chickies or up into South Philly for some pizza, steaks or whatever.

If you guys would like I can take a drive down there on friday and see whats down there. I do Mummers parade every year so I'm somewhat familiar with the area (For any of you who have gone down 2nd street after the mummers parade will understand why I can't remember too well), its only a five minute ride for me I would be happy to do it for the club.

Yeah, the 23rd is Sunday. What I meant was if Saturday's weather forcast for Sunday is very bad we will call it off (decision to be made by the organizer on the 7 board). If the weather says passing T-showers or chances of rain is under 50% the meet will go on. We will post late Saturday whether it is on or off. Sorry for the crappy way I worded my last post--I was in a rush.

Ok I am officially still attending.
My 8, OTOH, will not be. Apparently it would rather stay put and wait for a new oil cooler and shroud (WTF is THAT??)
So, I warn you all, be careful about where you put your keys around me - I may just have to zoom zoom off with someone else's car. (and to Senseny - a blue 7 would really cheer me up!!)
So, if anyone has any special requests that would transport better in an SUV than in your car, let me know. Meanwhile, I'll try and find as many folding chairs around here as I can and throw those in the big fat ugly SUV that I am forced to drive. At least it gets better mpg than my 8 did .

Well, at least I know that Sue won't want to drive off in my 8, because it still bears the scars of being backed into in my driveway, and keyed in Somerville. There will a large selection of prettier 8's than mine!
Sue - we'll learn-ya all about oil coolers - more than you ever wanted to know...

Great event today. 48 (or so) rotary vehicles plus a few piston cars is an amazing turnout. It was very nice to meet some new people, say hi to previous acquantances and check out everyone's vehicles. Incredible vehicles to say the least.

yeah, very nice turnout for a Philly meet... there is usualy the same 5 or 6 cars and thats it. to bad about no grills to cook anything. Jehan and I ran to my office at the arenas to pickup some water and beer so people wouldnt dehydrate. hope you guys drank some of it. I had another BBQ to attend after the meet so i just ate great, but sory to those who drove a long way. next time we will get prepared a little better. I am actualy shocked at how many people turned out for basicly just mentioning a time and place with no real orginazation.... i will add the photos to my website tomorrow. had a little to much to drink between the meet and my BBQ in the heat....
nice to meet some new faces.
Travis, sorry for the hello and then run... hope to meet up some time in the future.

Great turnout! It was nice to meet a couple of additional RX-8 Tri-State Club members! I'm sure that I missed 3x as many as I met. My co-worker Uli that joined me had a great time too. Thanks to all!
Ron - thank you and your wife for the fruit!
