I'll be stopping by the Mazda RIU on Saturday too. Joining up for Sunday sounds like a good idea. I don't think I'd want to spend the night in Cape Cod. There doesn't seem to be concrete plan on what to do on Sunday yet. If the plans gell well with the Sunday join-up, I'll be there.

Well, Boston is officially open for anyone to win, since I've been officially removed from the list of eligibles to win Boston.

Because I won New York yesterday! W00t! (But i'll still be there running, since I already paid and it's too late to cancel, so it'll just be fun time in the car.)

Imp,

Congrats on winning at New York! So do you think you can win at Laguna Seca too?

Could use a few RX 78s on Sunday May 23 for the Boston REV IT UP Same for Philedelphia for June 5 or 6. You car will be on display in the Enthusiast tent and you get the race pass ($40 ticket) for free. Your car is in at 6:60 am and out at 6. Lots of folks have done it so far and its really fun to display and talk about your car. Please email me DIRECT at

miatabb@aol.com if you are interested.

EVerthing sounds good, and I can't wait. Is there going to be a meeting point on Saturday right before RIU? Are we going to go together or are we just going to meet each other at the event?

I spoke with RIU organizers and they said it would be too much of a production or whatever for them to set aside a lot of a section of the lot for us ot have our meet, so I am planning on going up and arriving around 10AM and hopefully finding an empty section of the lot where we can all line our cars up. Those who are there earlier for the event can just move their cars to our little section when they get a chance, and everyone who arrives after that can park over in our little area.

I havent posted a whole lot of detail but there ARE plans for Sunday.

I went out to the cape a few seperate days to scout the roads and the area. The plan in is pretty simple, just to cruise 28 along the southern coast of the cape stopping anywhere that looks like a good place to stop for a minute to stretch the ole legs, again for some seafood for a late lunch, and possibly again for some mini golf at a kickass place I know of on the way out. We will then continue on to Provincetown(on the tip) where we can all park together take some shots and maybe check out the town before heading back in and splitting up.

Other options are 6a along the northen coast which is less populated, no real scenic spots just a nice country drive kinda thing so some people could cruise back in together along that road.

At any rate, I will have a tenative plan put together when we go down to the motels on Sat night and all those spending the night can vote on what we want the final route to be for the day on Sunday. Its really not nearly as complicated as most cruises are because in essence there are only 3 roads on the whole Cape. 28 on the south coast, 6 in the middle and 6a on the north.

Just bring some 2-way radios if you have them and on Sunday we are going to meet in the parking lot across the street from the motels at 10AM and depart from there at 11AM (give some time for people driving in for just the cruise to show up)

If you are driving down to the motels from RIU we can all drive together to get there, but if you are planning on just meeting us there at the parking lot on sunday then let me know and I can post some directions to the lot if neccesary

lookin forward to this weekend, cant wait to check out all the rides!

There is room just outside of the main parking area that you guys should be able, after you comptete, to get together and get a group picture.

MRIU isn't in charge of the facility... so you can't hold parking against them.

And if I read this right... I should find the most RX-8's and park my Tahoe or Jeep in the middle of them all? :D

It has the address of the Bournedale Inn which can be used for directoins to the parking lot we will be meeting in for the cruise. Any other question about Sat or Sun should be answered in there, just hit me up on AIM if they are not.

Hope the weather hold out

I cant wait to meet you guys and especially to cruise with some 8s.........what a hott lineup of cars that will be

Well, for my complete first time ever on a track in my life, ran a 39.6 first run and a 36.2 second run. I took some pics check out http://www.justindotcom.com/Mazda%20.../AllItems.aspx . This was the most fun I've had in a long time. I'm hooked on autox now, anybody have any suggestions of where to go for classes in the northeast?

New England Region SCCA. http://www.ner.org and select "Solo-II"

They primarily run at Ft Devens in Ayer, MA.

Glad you guys had fun today... and to use Slvrblt erm... ReaperMans excuse... but with a twist... I would have been the learder if it weren't for the cone. (Not that it would have mattered).

My best run: 29.8

It was damn cold out there, but we had a good time. My runs felt sloppy and I think I could've shaved off a sec with some practice... I hope to do some autocross this Summer.

We are meeting at the parking lot across the street from the hotel where everyone is staying. I'm gonna look up directions in the morning. PM or email me if you want to meet up in the morning and head down together. I will be leaving around 8:30.

30.572 and 29.189 -- Novice Class! I'd never done that before and man did I want a third try! That was a blast -- I never get to drive anything like I STOLE it and I sure as hell wouldn't drive anything I own that hard!

Burrrr. Freaking NE weather suks. I think my hands were frozen stiiff before I drove both times. They needed a heated tent somewhere. I wasn't very happy with my 31.948 best time, but fun anyway.

Those 3s felt alot more like my 8 in autox than the 6s did last year. Pretty impressive little cars. Wonder what the 'few mods' they did to them besides the tires?

Anyone notice the Black RX-8 along with the Ferrari and others at the front entrance advertising their driving school?

I'm pretty sure they said Borla exhausts and 'tuned suspensions'. At least I think I remember hearing that.

I thought those cars pushed something awful. The instructors at one practice session talked about oversteer. I don't think you could break the rear ends loose on those cars if you tried, which is why you didn't see any novices spinning out.

It was a blast watching people mowing down cones in the first turn/slolem and the second turn dive while waiting on practice course lines.

The one answer we never got is what the $@#% do they do with these cars when the year is up? Sell them as 'totally abused?'

One would hope they euthanize them, dissect them and use the results to improve the breed. Heaven forbid anyone actually gets to own of those poor critters!! :o

That's exactly what they do. They tear them down, look at the various parts for abuse... erm... wear and tear.

There was one guy yesterday when I was watching who did a Neutral Drop. My jaw dropped... and the Operating steward saw it too and afterward went over to the guy to have a quick little nice chat with the gentleman.

They need these cars for 4 more cities... stuff like that and they WILL break, as wouold almost any other car.

We saw one guy come out of the 1st turn slolems and upshift into PARK! That ratcheting noise is unmistakable! He came to a complete stop by turn two and then finally figured out what happened. Damn!

The instructors were talking about people hitting the rev limiters on the practice courses and that they'd take a practice punch away from you for doing it. I thought it was pretty funny figuring about 90% of the people in line were out there looking for a rev limiter to make sure they didn't hit it! :^)
