bump. no responses? you gotta be kidding me. is this a MAZDA forum or what?!?!? This is an AWESOME track- very well suited for the (comparatively) lower-horsepower, but great-handling RX-8. (The 4.2 mile Grand East has a shortened back straight and added twisty sections.) The price may be a little steeper than some other HPDE events, but you get FOUR sessions per day, and many others have just three per day.

..and BTW I have no affiliation with mazdadrivers, ...other than being a happy customer for the last 7 years.

Hope to see you in a couple of months.

I'll be there. Just made my hotel reservations -- looking forward to it. It has taken me two years to learn the track, this year I think I will 'get' it

Besides the Sleep Inn (event hotel), the Comfort Suites in Danville is nice - and walking distance to a good Mexican restaurant and cold refreshments

Lots of good links out there to help...Check out the Mazdadrivers site, I think it has a good list.

My list for you ..... IMHO

DOT 4 Fluid -- Required...
Better pads -- Desired, not required as long as your OEM pads are NEW'ish. e.g. have lots of material left.

WATER for you -- Required It's hot at VIR in June - though they have a nice cafeteria...

Jack - although you may not need it and people share
Tools - DITTO
Suntan lotion
Chair
Cigars (well maybe that's just me)
Money for gas (you will may it at VIR and it is expensive)
PATIENCE - VIR is a big track that takes some time to learn

Everything else is optional...The 8 is ready to go and give you lots of big grins and high fun factors as delivered with better Fluid.

thanks for the info...considring this though June may be a little too soon...as this would be a first for me and I have to get the car ready, get a helmet, etc.

I most likely will do September though- how are the instructors/ how do they break up experience levels?

this would be my first track event...

Din- check out www.mazdadrivers.com they separate into beginner, intermediate and advanced for Student Run Groups, plus there's an Instructor Run Group. Beginner usually sells out the quickest.

also check out www.bsr-inc.com for the Friday At The Track (FATT) events at Summit Point. - only about an hour and a half from Arlington. but for beginners they sell out MONTHS in advance.
