Mechanic recommendations? (Specifically Western Queens)
Hi guys, I'm now a proud owner of a '04 RX8 -- any recommendations for mechanics in the area? Truth be told the extent to which I am handy, I can put IKEA things together
Anybody from the NYC area that can recommend a mechanic that I can get to know and go for routine stuff to part repairs? It would be best if the mechanic were in Astoria/Long Island City since that's where I'm going to park it, but if there's anything closer than Koeppel Mazda, please let me know if you've had any experience!
(Searched this forum, but found answers only for NJ.)
Thanks in advance!
Note: The RX8 is also manual, so I'll also need to get the clutch replaced in case I shred it too much

Youre in Astoria?! Me too!
Sorry I didnt answer your questions, I do all my maintenance and whatever repairs I can tackle myself.
Anything major I only trust Wayne Mazda in NJ.
Anything specific you need fixed or done now?

Well, yesterday was really hot, and two things happened:
1. We tried to use the AC and when we put it on max cool, it started blowing hot air at us
2. What also might be related, is that when my friend tried practicing driving stick, he stalled the engine like 10 times in a row,
restarted it, and then the check engine light came on. We let it cool down for a while with the hood open (about 5 minutes) and then
all was well again.
Also, I need to get my right tail light resealed cause there's condensation
I've heard so many good things about Wayne Mazda -- only problem is I've got this wacky warranty from Phoenix American,
not sure if they're gonna cheat me (the warranty company) if I do my work out of state.

Hm, have you been to Koeppel Mazda? Not so many good things written about them, but they are right on Northern...
I'm not very handy, so gonna need to take it somewhere that I can start getting used to, for oil changes, fluid checks, etc.

They can be super expensive for regular repair jobs though. When rats ate my 02 sensor on my GLi, I paid like $200 for a new sensor and labor. I could have done it myself, but the damn bastards ate the wire right at the sensor...lol
They did it again, and I rewired everything and encased it all in plastic. Bastards.

Pretty sure I'm out of warranty though -- there's a place on 45th and Northern called Manners Motors that I'm thinking of bringing it to. Any other suggestions guys/gals?
