Charles R Hill from BHR has some porting on his naturally aspirated motor and it does give him a bit of torque and fatten up his power curve, but his airflow numbers were unchanged. Also unless you are already doing a motor build its ridiculously expensive for little gain. A lot of the modifications for the car are additive though, you get little gains that add to other mods you have already done. A naturally aspirated Renesis probably won't get much benefit out of porting, but a turbocharged car which is flowing a lot more will see a bigger benefit. I would never drop my motor just to port it, but as I'm already having a new motor built it made sense for me to do the porting while its apart.
In terms of "bang for your buck" mods to start with; I recommend the Axial flow short shifter, the BHR ignition upgrade, and an AccessPORT. If you don't mind the smell of exhaust you can pick up another 10 whp or so by adding a quality catless midpipe. Anything else you do to a naturally aspirated car for power is going to be either ridiculously expensive for little gain, or make no difference whatsoever. If you have the above mods and want more power its time to start thinking about forced induction; which is a major undertaking.
