Moving to S.E. Virginia

I hope I didn't break any forum rules by double posting. I also put this question in the wheel and tire section of the tech forum then thought it may get better visibility here. Anyway.....

Newport News area to be exact. We're moving there from the frozen tundra of N.E. Ohio. I have a set of Pirelli snow tires mounted on wheels for the winter months. Do any of you live around Newport News? Will I need to take the snow tires with us when we move or do you think I can sell them and not have to worry about it during the winter.

Thanks!!!

Karen

Karen,
Given the lack of snow and or storms dropping more than 4 inches in that area I would sell the tires/rims. The weather is signifcantly milder than what you are use to.
Still it depends on ....
Where will you be working/drving the 8 in the winter? If the 8 is your primary car and you will be heading to Richmond or Northern Va then you might consider keeping the snow tires. If you will be driving around Newport News and Va Beach. I don't think you need the snow tires. I grew up in Va and lived in Newport News for 4 years. There were only a couple of days that I left my 7 in the garage while living in NN.

You will not need snow tires. When it snows here, it's never very much nor for very long. You only need to worry about everyone else that freak out because they can't drive in 2 inches of snow for an afternoon. Welcome to the area!

Hey, thanks much. The 8 will stay in that area during the cold months. I'm a Realtor by trade and if I need to I can drop my husband off at work and use his car. Thanks for the welcome Styjan, we'll be neighbors!!

Now hopefully I can find a buyer for the tires and wheels!!

Karen -

We just had a meet down here recently at Mt Trashmore in VA Beach. And I'd like to put together another one for the end of the summer. Hopefully we can get something together before then though too. When will you be in the Tidewater/Hampton Roads area?

,Jer
