i was just being more exact... i know the fd is an amazing car and is close to balance. just also know the se3p is closer. silly exactness, engineering habit.
i just don't like the idea of upsetting the balance (and 100 pounds will make a difference) or of sticking a piston engine in the se bay. label me a purist if you want... i don't mind. :-p

But for my cars (FD), thats not really the case. YOu figure how heavy the entire 13B-REW, with the twin turbo setup, the heavy *** pre-cat etc etc.
It was already proven the complete LS1 swap is only around 50 lbs heavier than a fully dressed 13B-REW. Remember the LS1 is ALL aluminum.
Only issues was the depth of the T-56 tranny (which is pretty much the crowd favorite among LSx/tranny swaps.
I would imagine 8 guys would have this problem too.
If it was up to me, i wouldnt bother with the swap at all. We drive RX's, leave them rotary. Even if the v8 is more reliable, has more low end torque, more gas efficient etc etc. If you originally wanted a v8, get a car with a v8 in it. Why put it in a japanese car?
But i dont want to rag on people who already did the swap, im sure they did it because they love the FD and dont want to sell it and just wanna enjoy it. But it was funny cause on the other forum we had a LONG thread about what i said and how most people who do the LSx swap, often sell it. Which sorta defeats the whole purpose as to WHY you did the swap in the first place.
Idk, thats my outlook on this situation.
Ill stick with my zero low end torque and have to wait til 4500rpm til my head snaps back rotary that sounds like a mean lawnmower

Yeah a small frame of 100lbs is easily compensated by gas and other misc car parts either removed or left in the engine bay.

Nice post. I had no idea the LSx-swapped 7s did it to save their cars but yeah, given the choice, I'd keep the rotary.
For all the trouble a heavily modded rotary will give you, I'm not sure why folks even mod their 8s (maybe 7s too) so they become like other cars. If you wanted low RPM torque, good mileage, don't even use the back seats, a loud exhaust, and a hard suspension, why get an 8 when you've got choices like the s2k, the Z, and the evo cars., why not invest in a proper muscle (C6, G8?) / insanely quick exotic (M5, GT-R) / practical and fast sedan (Evo / STI / crazy Honda) as a second car? Heck, lease the second car, and keep the 8, so if your taste changes, you'll have the car you want. The 8 is a very balanced and unique car but I'm sure that even after going through other faster, more sensible cars, you'll want to keep coming back to the 8. That's my plan anyway. Stock 8 FTW!

probably not..
::pulls card from deck of excuses::
....jeez, that gas price card keeps coming up.. what the heck!!!
Autocrossing is eating all my money. I'm making a fairly big autocross related purchase in a month or so, so I probably won't be coming to the meets for at least a month, as I'm putting that gas money directly toward the purchase.
