Does the ticking follow engine rpm? I had the same thing and it was a loose plug wire

I got 18.8 mpg on my trip yesterday out to PA which is a little low for me, but it was also awesome. The car could use some serious tuning to make peak power (it gets very rich up top as a safety precaution for now) and the idle is meh, but it runs great. I need to grow some ***** and switch it over to matrix mode and fill in the tables.

lifter tick? lol

Jeff- i would have someone check to see if you didnt get a dud alternator. The problem you are having sounds like a fault in the electrical system where it isnt giving your car enough juice and is dying on you. Auto Zone does free alt checks so I would go find that out. A blown battery would just mean that you would have problems starting the car. After you start your car all the battery does is get recharged by the alt since it is now your electrical system. If it is not giving your car enough juice then that would be your problem. I am sorry but i dont know enough about the 8 to really diagnose it. Does the car have an IAC (idle air control)? This is usually a regulator in the throttle body that allows for a smooth transition from driving to idle. I dont think you have a major problem at all but electrical issues are always a bitch because they are a pain to track down. Can you PM me with exactly what is going on and when it is happening? That may help for me to see what I can come up with.

Will be out there tommorow with the 7. Just got my POS Saturn back today so its nice to have 30+ mpg again for errands and such. The AC doesnt hurt either going into July & August.

Would anyone be interested in trying to do the car-**** night again this week? Say Wednesday? We can also give Chris (max) a housewarming celebration since he is my new roommate.

Let me know.

What GUI are you using for it?
Windows backbone or Linux?

I have been toying around with thinking of building one for a while but I dont know where to mount the screen and dont want a DIN model.

I'm on Windows XP running Centrafuse. Running the trial version until 2.0 comes out so I can buy that.

The only options to mount a LCD like that in the RX8 are:
1. OEM Navigation Hood. ($1000+)
2. Corksport Kit. ($600+)
3. Fabricate it yourself.

My initial plan for the LCD was to get my hands on the NAV motorized screen and pop it in there.. but that would have cost me more than the entire PC.. so I passed.

I then figured I'd fabricate my own motorized screen using the mechanism from a busted indash LCD I had in my mx3.. but alas passed on that idea too. The upper console in the 8 looks too good.

Just in time though Metra is getting close to released a indash replacement kit for the 8 at less than $200! So I'm going to make a little mount to hold the screen in front of the OEM radio for the time being until I can get my hands on the Metra kit when it is released.

yeah they really dont have anything like that for the 7 because of how our dash is setup. I would have to do alot of work with the dremel because the center vents are in the way. The only way that is going to happen is if I can get my hands on an abused dash for practice and to try things out first. It really doesnt look that hard with using the 2 part foam to get the plug made but I dont want to hack up my dash trying to get it all just right. I think its just a passing fancy for me as I really dont need all of that in my car. About the only thing I would use it for is NAV and MP3 capability and as a source to run an OBD converter to monitor the car.

Neal - I'm only your roommate once I get off my *** and actually move some stuff in. It'll be a few months before I can buy new furniture I think. I'll just go with my homeless man setup for now. Dyno time > furniture. Anyways, I should be by tonight with either a large amout or not a large amount of stuff.

Question: Where are you posting from if the apartment has no internet and you are currently in a liberated state of employment? Stealing a signal from some neighbors?

You paid rent, you are my roomate. Whether you are here or not is up to you lol
thats cool, just give me a ring.

I am at the wondeful local library where the internet is free. I should get something out of my tax dollars. I came here to check email and send out my resume and such. Just figured I would pop on here as well to see whats up.

Hopefully this week we can sort out the internet/cable thing since I would like to get it at home now for resume's and such. We can talk tonight.

Blah.
I just took my car in to get an alignment at "the best place around to get alignments"

I gave the guy the specs, and he said "do you have aftermarket parts on that car?"
Me: "No. Those are within range for the factory components"
Him: "It will take me at least a few hours of messing with it to get those specs. I'm not doing it unless you schedule another appointment and leave your car"
Me: "Others have been able to get those without much trouble"
Him: "This is why I hate the internet.... blah blah blah"
