CHRIS you were right 3rd gear took a **** from a grind into 2nd..... Now my half *** 8 is out of commision.
To everyone with a new or used 8, any mileage, take that clutch pedal off and put on a Re inforced one by BHR or have a local welder weld the **** out of it. It will go! and it will cost you more money in the long run!

Theres no need to get into this... i dont do clutch dumps and the gear grinding into second is a reccouring problem with the 8.
Take it as you wish but it was nothing other than a fair warning to other rx8owners.

i'm over 52k. clutch feels beautifully broken in--still firm and responsive. feels normal when i shift in and out of second, even at higher revs... even when i bounce the devil and pedal the little bia (ie snap shifts for speeeeeeed). what is this grinding i am hearing about?

Endowdly,
look into transmission failure threads, theres quite a few of them. Many 8 owners wont feel the normal clutch problems such as slipping or improper engagment.
The gear grinding is very common from gears 2 and 3.
Back to the thread, good meet even though it was cold.
Chris your miata does have a nice rotorary buzz to it under load, i think all of Rt 17heard it.
