Yea, sometime soon i'm down to ride there. I knew the catskills were scenic but never expected a touring road right in our backyard.
I ill be there earlier than 3. Need to get that subframe bolt on and maintance.
With hopes of having my car on the road this weekend... I'm ready to RIDE!!!!
PANCAKES!!!!!!!???????!!!!!!!??????
LOL...
how's everybodys schedule for june 5th??? its a sunday???
I think I'm going to post on 7 and 8 club for a "Doughnuts & Coffee" meet....
(Don't worry our secret Pancake spot wont be compromised
)
There's actually a farm further up that has awesome Doughnuts!!!!! plus the drive there will be sick....
Here's the place
http://www.jonesfarminc.com/grandma-phoebes.html
we'll probably take:
The 7lakes drive route > to the highway over the pancake road... after we eat... We'll take the actual pancake road back > toward bear mountian > palisades PKWY..
Also If the weather is good tomorrow morning, my cousin is going to come over and help me put this turbo back in. if so I'll prob. head out with him or chris to your BBQ dave... I've been craving a BBQ burger

Okay looking at these pics makes me realize I need to step up my game. Now I know I can search the forums but I:
1) don't have the time to be searching in here all day
and
2) you guys definitely know better than me.
So I'm going to talk about what I'm thinking of doing, and would greatly appreciate you guys giving me some pointers and or feedback.
Let me start off with the less pricey items first.
1) Lights: Someone point me to a good site to order some new hyper white lights. I also want to do something about those ambers as well. And I want to black-out the taillights. Pointers on this will be much appreciated.
2) Intake. Thinking racing beat Revi w/ air damn. I know Jake's a fan. Any other really good ones out there that have similar attributes (i.e. not obnoxiously noisy)
3) Paint or a new Spoiler- My lip spoiler currently has a pretty nasty paint chip on it. I either can get a new paint job to repair the chipping and other rock chips accumulated in the last two years or just replace the spoiler for an OEM wing spoiler which I’ve been thinking about for a while now. Anybody know of a good paint shop that I can talk to about pricing or a reputable vendor for the spoiler. I’m leaning towards the first choice since it will kill two birds in one stone.
4) IF I still have cash. Exhaust system. I'm going to be a bit conservative here and go with a catback system. I'm also think Racing beat as well for this. Any thoughts on this or other recommendations as to brands to consider.
5) PRIORITY ITEM. I'm finally ready to start looking at new rims folks can't run stock with winter tires all summer now. LOL. I've been doing my research and boy is there a lot of info on this subject. Steel or aluminum. Cast vs. billet vs. forged . Spacers to make your tires flush. Offset considerations, staggered tires, unsprung weight vs. sprung weight, sizing/ fit. It’s all just a bit overwhelming.
And then there are the brands. Please don't hate me for what I'm about to say, I'm just think out loud here. Why are VOLK rims so dam expensive and popular? Yes I know they were one of the first to produce 1 and 2 piece forged rims but other than that fact why people love them so much is beyond me? The styles are a little plain vanilla IMHO. There are other brands out there like O.Z rims and one brand that I'm personally looking at ICONZ wheels that to me look a whole heck of a lot nicer but their reputations is either not that good or nonexistent. And the really nice rims are like $3-4 thousand dollars (brand new), is this really worth it? I’ve got a respectable budget here but I don't think I'm really willing to throw down that kind of money for rims alone. What are some really good brands and where should I be looking for new or used rims? I’ve already been looking at Tirerack but their selections are so-so and they don’t even sell the coveted Volk rims!
Feedback please. What are your thoughts? Am I thinking of doing too much in one summer? Should I really focus on one or two things? I’m really just trying to acquire all the collective knowledge and experience from you guys so I can do some more research and makes some moves while it’s still nice out. If I do it myself I’ll be researching into next year reading all the posts on the forum. I’ll repost this on the appropriate channels but I thought I’d hit you guys up first. Thanks in advance guys.
-Bill

Billy,
-For the lights, check out v-leds.com...almost all the lights on my car are from v-leds and they are awesome products!
-For the intake, Racing Beat is a great choice, as well as the AEM/MS intake. If you want to save a good amount of money, just buy the Racing Beat duct, get a K&N panel filter and keep the stock intake assembly. Intakes will only get you 2-3 hp, so all you'll be paying for is sound.
-For paint, talk to kel or omar, both have relatives in the body shop business.
-For exhaust, racing beat is one of the best, but its heavier than stock and really quiet until you drive hard. Although your car is a series II, I remember seeing a thread somewhere on the forums of someone buying the Agency Power exhaust (which is for a Series I rx8) and longer exhaust hangers and he's having no issues so far (that I know of lol)
-Wheels: You dont want steel...they're heavy and more prone to rust. Forged rims, which volk, advan, and other high end Japanese rim manufacturers use, is probably the best method for producing wheels. Forged wheels are some of the strongest wheels made while still being lightweight. So thats pretty much why they're so expensive. Cast wheels are on the low end, but are affordable. Rims that fall into this category are most knock-off rims, my 5zigens, etc. Offset is everything; It can make or break your car's looks lol. Don't run a staggered setup because the rx8 does not have the power to run staggered, plus you'll upset the awesome handling of the car. stick with the same size rims and tires on all four corners and you'll be ok.
If you want more info, we'll need to talk because typing all the above took a while and alot of patience
. And because I typed all that out, you now have to buy me a drink haha
