Just dropped my car off at Capitol to get the A/C cycling fixed and my temp gauge **** replaced. First time I had dealt with Christian in person, and I have to say, he's the nicest guy, aside from the Internet Sales manager who sold me the car, at Capitol. I told him he was famous on here for being one of THE rotary guys in Richmond to go to. He said he needs to get on here and check out the boards. So, Christian, if you log on, welcome!

They said this morning they probably had to order parts for it (the a/c amplifier, I'm assuming) so it may take a while. But if it works, I'll be happy- it's driving me crazy, especially in this heat.

Took some photos of my dirty car in the deck at work this morning. Figure since I got in so early and the deck is pretty empty I take some photos.

Okay, so I had a completely crappy day yesterday. On our way to a friend's wedding, first we hit some piece of road debris that scraped up along the side of my driver's door. Hopefully, we can polish it out- there aren't any big scrates, but I'm still annoyed.
THEN, in Goochland, I get pulled over by a goochland county cop who had just finished pulling someone else over. I had the bad luck to be driving past as he was getting back up to speed and pulling back onto the highway, and he noticed I had no front plate and pulled me. Lucky me, for a $25 fine, it also included a $51 (!!!!!!) "processing fee" and a $5 "local fee".
So we get going again, and get to the place where the wedding is held. My friend, in her infinite wisdom, has chosen a COW FIELD on top of a mountain, and we had to drive a mile on a little crappy two lane track. I don't think we scraped the underbody on anything, but it sure as hell was close a few times.
And then, on the way back, my oil light starts coming on every time we go up a hill, if we're going over 70. I know this is not an issue of low oil, because we checked it last week, it was not quite halfway between notches, and gave it a quart to top it off. GRRR. Yet Mazda has been insisting to me that every time it's come on, it's because the oil level was low. BULLS$%#!!!
I'm staying home today. Mazda, the police, and cow fields can bite me.

Elara,
Definitely a bad day! Sorry to hear about it. Now you know why southsiders don't like going north of the James.
BTW, didn't you have the new oil pan installed?

I hate cops.
I just gave up and put the stupid plate back on. I can't imagine I'd get pulled for it again, but I really can't afford $81+ tickets on a regular basis.
And msrecant- I never got it fixed because every time I bring it up, they check it, and insist the computer is showing I was low on oil and that's why it came on. I just went out and checked again, to make sure I wasn't crazy, and it's less than 1/4 below full. It did this last week on our way back to Richmond from NoVa, which is why we checked it and added some then, even though it was just under 1/2 full. I'm going to ask politely one more time when I get my a/c fixed, and if that doesn't work, I'll call Mazda Corporate. AAAHHHHHHH!!!!

I took mine in about 2 weeks after the A/C TSB was issued and it was OBVIOUS that they had no idea about it. The service adviser tried to tell me that it was "normal" for A/Cs to cycle on and off and get warm.

Hi everyone,
I'm going to buy a new RX8 next week and I live in the Richmond area so I figured i'd introduce myself. I'm 22 and been working for a couple of months to get a healthy down payment. I'm leaning towards going with an automatic which I know is pretty much the dark sin around here
Anyway, I've been reading about these meets in the Richmond area. Are these formal car shows and where exactly are they located? I'd love to come and drool over nice cars. Also, sorry to hear about all your problems with area service departments.
....and one more thing, does anyone have a list of VA dealerships?
Thanks,
Adam

These are just car enthusiast get together, not a formal show at all. Just people talking cars, drink, and eat.

Glad to hear of another RX-8 owner, particularly one following this forum. Nothing wrong with an automatic.
In terms of dealerships there is Capital on West Broad, Whittem on Midlothian and Quality down in Petersburg. For other VA dealers check out:

Let us know when you get it.

Hi Adam,
If you live towards the north I can heartily recommend the sales staff at Bill Britt Mazda in Fredericksburg.
Their service dept. on the other hand leaves a little to be desired, but that doesn't seem to be anything new.

I just played tag with two black 8's all the way down from Manassas to Richmond. AND I saw a blue 8 on 234 at Lake Jackson Drive in Manassas. If it was anyone here, was fun playing with you! And whoever you were driving the 8 that was behind me most of the way, you were awfully cute!
