I read a rumor that there is a coupe coming out in 06. Dunno how much there is to it. I asked the dealer and he had not heard anything other than the possibility of a convertible ans an MS version.

Me too- my husband and I both work in Innsbrook. And yes, 288 was a godsend- but I live waaayyyyyy down in Midlothian at Hull Street and Genito, so it'll be an even bigger godsend when they finish the darn thing and I don't have to fight my way up Charter Colony every morning! Saving me a ton of money on tolls, at any rate. I'll have to keep an eye out for the other 8 zipping up 288 now
And Tick- there is supposed to be a coupe AND a convertible coming out in 2006-07 or thereabouts, according to Mazda. It's been in all the trade magazines recently, and they even mentioned it at the Paris Autoshow. Guess we'll see what happens!

Dude..you are the most in-decisive guy I know!
Anyway, I ignored a call from CAP MAZ last night..I think they are calling to tell me the white RX8 I orderd is in...
I think I will go check it out..and make a BS excuse not to buy it..

It'll have only two doors this time- I'm guessing two seats too. But, with Mazda, your guess is as good as mine...

Okay guys, my white RX8 is in at Cap Maz, they called me in to get it today..I went a took if for a test drive. First..they are out of their minds..they want 32K for that car..AND IT HAS NO NAV.. My old RX8 was 32K WITH NAV!
Plus, the flakes in the white are not that pronounced...Plus, I forgot how little tourque the RX8 had... It felt much slower then I remember. But, hey it's not like I was beating on a new car.
But, all in all I think I am sticking with my current car...at least untill they get the power up in the car.
But, I do miss the RX8's shifter..that's magic...

BTW, did you get the M Flash before your sold your car? A number of people claim their butt-dyno registered the car much slower after the M Flash.

You got me. Only thing anyone knows is that it's supposedly in the works. Aside from that, no idea about details.

By the time I was done with my car, it had everything done to it. M-Flash..all the TSBs..and the tranny worked on. The M flash made the car feel smoother.. My car came with the L flash..and I never had any flooding problems.
I read the sticker, and it had a leather, and every thing BUT Nav.. it's still silly to think you can buy a STI at that price and have the equivelent of a super-car.
It was just too much money for too little perfomance and too little changes.
I would have been much happier if they at least fixed the PCM to give back the missing HP..then that would have helped me over my "sticker shock".
They could have put the Mazda Speed Version 2 PCM and the JDM shortened final drive in it it..
What is Mazda planning...and to have the Mazda 6 be faster than their top sports car...
Hmmmmm....

How is the 6 faster? When I talked to the dealer a few weeks back he told me that the price of the white 8 only went up the 200$ sur-charge for the 'special' paint. Now I believe that the increase in price is a bit stupid considering the white was already being made in japan. BTW did you see the new Mica paint color that is supposed to be on the 8?
9-K I saw a DIY here on the formums for installing a shorter throw shifter. If I remember correctly the shifter was a mazda part.

It will spank the 8 up and down..
Bill, are you talking about a Short Throw for the 8..or for my Legacy?
I have Short Throw Shifter in my Legacy already. Its the close ratios that I don't have, along with the extra cog for 6 gear..
I miss those dearly..

The "too little changes" sounds right also. I think everyone was hoping that Mazda held off on "the fix" to not impact 2004 sales. My take is that there isn't a "fix" that will meet emissions standards short of major Renesis re-engineering, which Mazda can't do until they have sold enough of the current Renesis engines.
Don't get me wrong, I love the car. Mazda did an amazing job of providing a high performance car that is comfortable for daily use and seats four adults. However, the car has also been "tuned" for a 250-275 HP engine, so much so that the lack of HP is obvious to even the non-technical driver. I can only assume that Mazda really thought they could deliver around 250 HP with Renesis, one way or another.
Hopefully someone (MazdaSpeed or some other third party) will come up with a Supercharger kit that reliably produces 30-50 HP. It would be worth the $4,000 to $5,000 to get the car performing at that level.
