There is actually another red 8 that comes up to the gym frequently. It certainly wasn't mine b/c it's in the shop. My car has chrome stock rims as well as a stock spoiler.

The reason my car is in the body shop... a deer hit me (yes he hit me, lol) on my way to the gym. I'm using the opportunity to get a mspd bumper put on... I was trying to turn a negative into a positive :D

I didn't realize you didn't have it back yet- that sucks. I guess red is a popular color for Midlothian RX-8s, then, because I now know of at least 4!

Yeah, they have been waiting on one single part that's on back-order.... the metal line coming from the radiator which is bent. They've got everything else and already have the bumber from Rosenthal. He said the install should only take about 3 hours given the bumper is painted. My car will look funny for a while given I only purchased the bumper... I wasn't sure how the insurance thing would pan out so I didn't want to be out the full amount until I was sure they were still going to pay for the original bumper at least.

Know anyone that would be willing to help me install the rest since I'm not that experienced with it?

I guess i'll have it back one of these days....

I see quite a few VR RX8s. It's the fastest color you know

Okay, Snizzle, I *know* I had to have seen you on Hull near Genito on Saturday. It was a VR 8 with what looked like a brand-spankin-new Mazdaspeed front bumper and a factory spoiler on it. It was also insanely clean and shiny. You wouldn't have seen me, as we were in our bimmer since I am having difficulties driving myself anywhere now.

It WAS you, right????

Ah ha, finally after all this time!

Yes I do have my car back and i've got the new bumper installed and everything repaired. The car looks as good as new in my opinion so i'm very happy with the work they did. The very next day i'm going down 288 and I see another deer.... took me a while to calm down from that, LOL. I do think it looks a little funny without the other parts but not as bad as I thought it was look in person. I can deal with it for a while until I'm ready to get the rest of the kit.

I had just washed my car on Saturday and figured i'd take it out for a spin to run some errands... I do like to keep her clean :D . Wish I had seen your car b/c i'm always looking for other 8s. I saw another VR last night with what looked like black powercoat wheels.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you having problems driving?

Ok lurker returns again. I just bought my wife a Hummer H3 that matches my Red RX8. So now we both have bad gas mileage. Did any of the flashes ever improve the gas mileage? I still have less than 4K on my car. The joys of living very close to work.

speaking of PCM reflashing...

and I don't think there's been agreement on whether or not any of this reprogramming has ever improved gas mileage

Cause I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant and I can barely reach the pedals normally, but now my belly hits the steering wheel . I still drive a bit, but mostly I'm making my husband chauffeur me around.

And I'm glad I finally got it right- I knew when I saw that bumper and how clean the car was it had to be you!

Chiro- are you EVER going to drive your car??? :D I've got almost 37k on mine now! And how does your wife like the H3? We're looking at probably an FX-35 in the next year or so, but he just recently saw the H3 and got a bit excited that there was a Hummer he might be able to afford...I told him I didn't care what he got as long as I didn't have to give up the 8.

I still haven't heard a peep from Capitol about that engine fix yet- wonder what's going on with it. Not that I've had any problems with the car or anything.

Oh well I know it's very late, but congrats on the baby! You can fit a childseat in the backseat just fine so I understand

I drove a FX-35 for about a week as a rental and it's a very nice SUV.... as far as SUVs go anyway. I really wanted a 45 but I only got the 35 b/c they didn't have anything else at the time. On the domestic side of things, have you seen the new Trailblazer SS that's suppose to come out soon.... 391HP out of basically an LS2, that kinda power will make anything move. Also Hummer will have a high performance "Alpha" line for all their models as well.

I haven't heard anything about the recall either. Sounds like they are still trying to decide what to do right now. I have a stuttering problem every now and then... i'm hoping this will fix it since I'll get at least a new flash out of it.

Hey I drive my RX8 everyday to work. It is just that it is 3 mile roundtrip and I only work three days a week. The H3 is great gets 20.5 mpg and is very fun to drive. It is lacking in the power dept. But I am sure some parts will come out for it soon. I scored it with a GMID discount coupon which is very rare. I think I will let my wife do the first Zaino on it. should only take her 8 hours or so. :p Congrats on the baby on board. If its a boy are you going to call him ReX??

:p

If it was a boy, maybe, but unless the tech was wrong (and she could have been) it's a girl- so we have no idea what we'll name her

Good to know about the H3- if it's getting the same mileage I'm getting on the 8, it might be something we'll look at!

Hi guys..thought I'd do my part to keep the Richmond thread on Pg1. Just got back from day trip to Endless Caverns...good excuse to exercise the 8 and give mamma a break for a while from the 'utes. Discovered that if I cruise at 75 long enough my A/C actually starts to feel cold (!).

RCADAM- I KNOW you had fun on those mountains- I have never had a car sprint up a mountainside like my 8 does. We look for excuses to go visit my mom in Madison just so we can fling it around those turns.

Elara..yes..LOVE the mountains...wish my HQ was in Charlottesville.... If you haven't taken Route 56 up to the BlueRidge Pkwy(North of 60..about 1/2 way to 64) I highly recommend this...lots of ups/downs/twists. I discovered it on my Honda RC after moving to Richmond a couple years ago.

BTW - strange I've never seen your car on the road since I work in Innbrook, too...??

I am in Japan now. I am actuly considering buying a used 2002 FD

It's silver, bone stock and for sale for 8 grand.

Oh, and the car only has 10k miles on it.

People don't drive much here.

9-K - are you living in Japan now? Where? I haven't been to Japan in a few years...although I spend WAY to much time in China these days......In fact, I always get on this site to keep up with what is happening during my trips..makes the time away go quicker!

Is the FD in Japan actually the same car as the US version (short of drive side)?

Which one are you? I see a black 8 in the mornings heading towards Broad on ***, then there's DOOGIE in the yellow 8 that works somewhere past CarMax Corporate because I see him pulling out sometimes. And I see a Titanium on Nuckols at lunch occasionally. Are you any of those? And yes, I'm very surprised you haven't seen me in Innsbrook then, since I've been driving it to work there almost every day for 2 years now

It must be the color, since no one ever seems to notice me, even though I'm all over the place (until recently)!

I have an 05 titanium sport...I take the Broad St exit to Dominion...go past the S curves and my building is on the left before you get to *** (address is Waterfront Drive). My car is usually parked just past Waterfront Drive in the parking lot on the left hand side...just before crossing over the stream. Probably not me on Nuckols...I usually stay around the Broad Street area if I go out at lunch. I'll continue to keep my eyes open for you!

I am in Tokyo now. Ohta-Ku. This is were my new company is located.

They made the FD up to 2002 here in Japan. So, they fixed a ton of issues that the USDM version didn't get cuz it stopped production in 93 for the U.S.

So, better seals, and no leaky turbos.

Plus, buying a used car here in Japan is like buying a new one.

I can't wait till I settle on a car I want.

Wow, that site gets me wondering how much it would cost to get one of those shipped over here. I'm guessing there would be an additional cost to convert the thing over to USA standards to make it street legal.
