Haahaha...sure I will be more than happy to do something like that. Set up a nice side business to fund my car craze.

Snizzle I don't think there is much you have to change with the JDM FD..

It's not like it was as bad as the GTR wich was never planned for US roads.

But, mabey I will have the experience of bring a car over. But, if I go through that trouble, it's going to be something that no one could get in the U.S.

So Elara I was reading one of the ticket threads and I noticed you got caught for lack of a front plate. I was just about to take mine off last night because it really detracts from my new front bumper.

How common is it to get in trouble in Richmond for this? Will placing the plate against my front windshield help things at all?

I got away with it for 6 months before getting pulled over by Goochland Sheriff's office. Just decided it wasn't worth it to pay $90 every time I got caught after that. I have no idea if putting it in your front window will hlp- I had it on my back seat and it didn't help me

RCADAM- I saw your car today- you actually work right across the street from my husband. I've seen your car in there before, I just assumed it was the other titanium I always see.

I also saw (and waved to) a black 8 in Smoketree- hi there, if you're here!
Elara;
That could have either been me or my wife. She drives it 95% of the time, and drops off my son at the sitters house in Smoketree in the A.M.
Black (6-speed) GT loaded with OEM wing, apperance pkg., etc.
Once in a while I'll be thru there myself. Come to think about it, I did see a "Green" 8 cruising thru there a few months back. Was that you? Somebody else here?

Bill

I'm back! :D

Or at least the message board e-mail notification is back, which drives my participation.

Saw a "Winning Blue" with the exterior Appearance Kit and a Wing yesterday parked in front of the Home Depot on Midlothian Turnpike.

9-K! Good to see you are still on-line.

You say the Japanese sold FDs until 2002. Did they really do that without any major design changes (styling, interior, mechanical)?

Yup, sold then up till 2002 and the price for them have not realy come down.

They have better seals, and fixed all the issues that the early models have. Along with a ton of turbo/suspension tweeks.

I was looking at a used FD 2002, at the Mazda dealer last week, White, about 6K miles on it, no scratches no dings... and they wanted 26 grand for it.

But, You can get the earlier models for cheaper. If you play on this website you can see.

It's the Japanese version of Car Max. There is no shortage of FD's here. So I can be picky and choosy.

The Elise is looking to be out of my price ranges. Because, it's marked up pretty high here, and the insurance was rediculas.

I couldn't justify it.

But, I realy want an FD.

Oh, I am going to see D1 DRIFT GRAND PRIX next month, so I will definaty have pictures of that.

9-K - there was a black FD in what appeared to be pritine /original condition parked at Whitten Mazda last night (I think for service work)...that is a great looking design..even after all these years. Tiny car, though...won't fit a Clydesdale like me....

Good deal! And just think, you can use all the money you save on gas to fixup the RX-7. :D

BTW, I always thought the 2nd gen Miatas looked like mini FDs. I think the new Miata looks more like the original.

They put the fender flares/headlights/tail lights from the 8 onto the Miata not to mention the titanuium grey paint... Man I am sooooo glad I got out of that car when I did! I bet with the gas prices now I would be lucky to get 19k for it. As far as the 7 goes I don't drive it too much because I need to replace the clutch master cylinder and the 5th gear synchro. After that it should be driveable any time of the day

WOW!!! After two years of moaning you finaly did it! Good Job!

Things are okay here in Japan. Work consumes my life. No time to play.

I have not taken many pictures at all. Plus, every time I go outdoors I see some JDM goodness so, I don't feel compelled to take many pictures now.

If you think gas is crazy in the U.S you should see the priced here in Japan. It's about $3 a LITER!!! not a gallon.

But, Japan is the best place to own a rotary. Because you don't have to drive it everyday. You can take public trans to work and back.. Save money on gas and drive the car on the weekends.

Thats what most people do. So on the weekends you see some AMAZEING cars.

But I can see you are not to worried about the gas with your nice new pick up truck!!

I don't know how long I will be here. I am trying fix two sick businesses.

If things keep going the way they are, I may find myself home faster than I think...

But, I still have alot of work to do.

I would love to by an 2002 FD... I see them all the time.

They are taunting me.

The guy who hired me keeps telling me he is sick of hearing me pine of the one in the used car lot by my house. He said he wants me to just buy it so he doesn't have to listen to me moan about it anymore.

But, I am holding off to see how well the company does before I make any serious investments.

But, still it's Japan, you don't need a car anyway!

Must be nice with gas prices on the rise. Soon I will have to bike to downtown Richmond to get to work because no one will even want to drive. The news is predicting another huge gas increase with the impending hurricane off the coast of Texas

Hmm..my mileage is now up to about 21 from 19 a year ago..just started going up around 13,000 miles or so....unfortunately not enough to offset the pump increase...gotta get back on my motorcycle I guess..

On another note, I'll keep my eye out for RX8s in China when I head back over there next week...I read that they started selling them in July...I guess that environment (traffic congestion and high heat) should be a good thermal test for them!
