Rever,

I know you go through a tank quickly but what kind of gas mileage do you actually get?

I guess I'll chime in with the gas mileage. Best I've ever gotten was 17.8, never cracked 18mpg. That was during the break-in period when I never revved past 4k rpm. The way I'll been driving it I've been getting 15-16mpg, worst was 15.3. This is the tank when I just changed my oil and decided to let it loose, redlining every gear, also letting Hanzo test it out and with the heel-to-toe which burns more gas. Guess it's not that bad compared to what some other owners are posting on this forum... I've heard of 12mpg, which means need to fill up every 150-160 miles. And I thought I have it bad that I need fill up every 215 miles.

Just wanted to add that my POS Mirage has been a stud in terms of gas mileage, been getting 34mpg, more than twice the 8! It's almost like the 2 cars are competing for my attention, been neglecting the Mirage but if gas prices get any higher the 8 may have to be 2nd best.

Yeah, the Mazdaspeed Miata is starting to look real good. One could almost swap even for a used RX-8 MT GT. If only it had a back seat ....

Its no secret, I drive my 8 hard.

Plus, I live downtown so I do alot of intown driveing.

I have never gotten more that 170 miles out of a full tank of gas..and I do rev match when I down shift...

Tried to give that up..but I can't..

So.. basicly with that combo..my gas milage is lamo..

I fall into the 215 miles to the tank, but have not pushed it to see how much is left in the tank.

I generally run 190-210 on a tank or between 14.5 and 15 mpg. This is my normal driving which are trips less than 10 miles in traffic. I usually shift in the 5-6K range.

Chiro, based on what you say then you have filled-up about 3 times since you got your 8?

Okay guys..I need to vent! I Just got of the phone with Cap Maz..and my normal rep who I have been working with is on vacation... I told them I would like to bring my car in to get the reverse checked out. He was like well..u have to double clutch it to make it go into reverse..its a close ratio six speed transmision and reverse takes a little bit more to get into. I was like...man, I dont' have to double clutch my car..THATS WHAT SYNCROS ARE FOR...two I had my car since AUGUST and I have never had this problem. Make my apointment check out my car AND DON'T TREAT ME LIKE AN IDIOT!! Argghhh.... man, I knew I was in for some bull when he told me my rep was on vacation.

Did you check your stay damper too? They broke mine, and I had to take it back in on MOnday to get it replaced.

Sounds like the same problem that I had getting my car in reverse. It has not done it again since that one day where it did it twice. Ever since they did the recall I now have a rattling noise in 3rd gear. Have any of you heard this?

thanks

Okay, its official. My reverse is jacked up...

I had to use two hands to get it into reverse this morning, and just a couple of minutes ago I had to do the same thing. I had a co-worker in the car and she was like "What the hell is wrong with your car." So, I might even leave early today and drop it off. I don't know if I can wait till monday.
