New SCCA Motorsports Track in MASS Proposal

Well, NE AutoX'ers it looks like people are finally reacting to the minimal places to race in New England. This new SCCA track sounds pretty amazing with a large AutoX course and road course.

Read about it here: http://www.palmermotorsportspark.com/

No interest for the New England drivers? That's a shame. If this goes through, I think this will really help the NER.

I've yet to track any car, but am looking forward to taking the 8 out. I just hope I can fit in my car with a helmet on.

IF they get past the local folks, it'll be great. IF is a big word...just ask the guys trying to get Club Motorsports going in NH since 2003.

Yeah, I hear you loud and clear on that one. Limerock Park actually investigated a 500 acre plot of land in Exeter, RI (exit 5 on 95N). I had friends that went to the town meeting and were major supporters for this. They wanted to build a larger track than Limerock to attract larger race series. There were rumors of F1 as well... at least that was their plan.

Needless to say, the locals shot it down because of "noise pollution". God forbid they get some revenue in that part of the state. Friggin' clowns.

Oh well. The Mass thing is still in discussion, so I won't get my hopes up. My fingers are crossed though. The problem is that when average people think of motorsports, they think NASCAR and dirt oval track racing, and pickups and white trash. This area of New England is very uptight about that sort of thing. I don't blame them, but if these guys can prove that this SCCA track is NOT what they are imagining, it should go through.

I went to the National tour there and also to some NER events. It was a nice long and fast place.

Found some info on comscc.org a local car club that does HPDE, according to one of the threads over there the Planing board in Palmer voted 5-0 to approve the plan. The track plan now just needs the approval of the State MEPA (Mass Environmental Protection Act)

Here is the link to the comscc.org thread
