NH NH people

Got a 2004 rx8 a while back, wanted to do an engine rebuild. Never done one before but interested in learning how to.
Was wondering if any of the kind rotary experts around would be willing to take some time to teach me.

I've never done an engine rebuild, nor do I know anyone who has, unfortunately. But I do live in NH and drive my blue RX-8 whenever the salt is off the roads. So far, my car hasn't needed any engine work, so I don't know who to recommend to you. When I've needed anything RX-8 specific, I've taken mine to Tulley Mazda in Nashua. Manny there seems to know what he's doing with rotaries, but I don't know if he's done any engine rebuilds.

I'm in the Nashua area and have rebuilt mine a few times. Basically learned through trial by fire back in college. Main suggestion is sticking with stock OEM Mazda seals and follow the side seal clearancing instructions to a T. Depending on mileage it is usually cheaper to buy a reman. Bad rotors, housings, and irons can add up to be more than a reman. One school of thought is to buy a reman and run it, then save and rebuild the original. You should spend the majority of your time cleaning and inspecting parts.

If you see a red Rx8 with anime stickers covering **** paint, it is probably my daily. I haven't been to Tulley, but the first and last dealer I went to ~5 years ago had my car for 3 months, made me buy an ECU and then refused to flash it.

Also let me know if you need any random parts, I recently junked my first chassis and stored most of every part on the car.

Question

Hi I’m new here and I don’t currently own a Mazda RX eight but I am interested in buying one soon I just wanted to ask what is a
REMAN is that an engine manufacturing company? Space I was just wondering because you said it’s cheaper or easier and then save for a rebuild for the original engine. Thanks.

A reman is just a remanufactured engine by mazda. Basically if you buy a reman last I looked it was 5k .... but at the same time if you bought all of the parts and shipping it was around 7-8k. Even then you stand a good chance messing up the rebuild your first time.
