MA No Front Plate in MA?

I know people hate front license plates, myself included. I was without one for almost 4 years, and was pulled over twice but none of the police ever mentioned anything about my missing front plate.

Here are the fines in MA.

c90 §6 90/6 NUMBER PLATE VIOLATION * c90 §6

NUMBER PLATE COVERED WITH GLASS/PLASTIC
or
NUMBER PLATE MISSING
or
NUMBER PLATE OBSCURED
or
NUMBER PLATE UNLIT

1ST OFF: $35
2ND OFF: $75
3RD OFF: $150.

As seen here on page 10. http://www.mass.gov/courts/courtsand...cmviassess.pdf

I also had no clue it was illegal to cover it with a plastic case. Apparently all those front plates from Disney World and the like, are all illegal.

Yeah I went 4 years as well in MA with no front plate on my old car. Never got in trouble for it, however got pulled over on the way to the dealership to trade in my car for my 8, because I didn't have the front plate....ironic huh?! I just played dumb and they let me go on my way (one advantage of being female I suppose!) I put the front plate on the 8 because I don't want to give anyone an excuse to pull me over, but I have seriously been debating putting a clear cover on the rear, I really don't know anyone in the area who has been bothered for that, the tinted yes, but clear no.

Gool Ol' Mass =P

Yep, my mom has a Toyota Sienna and has one of those clear plastic protective covers because she got a vanity plate, she had it for about 5 years but pulled into the mechanic and he told her he would have to reject her if she didn't remove the plastic.

shhhh... don't tell anyone but I've run front plateless for a number of years now. Two annual inspections plateless without issue as well (plate kept in trunk and shown). I'll keep rolling the $35 dice.

Strange thing, I also see tons of decorative front plates here, like: YNKEEHTR with red sox colors, or things like that.

Id say NH is even worse. I had the worst luck with getting pulled over without a front plate on my S2000 about every other week but if motorcycles dont have to have a front plate then why do cars?

If you're lucky enough to have retained the old green plates in Mass they are rear-only, so why do we need fronts just because they're newer red???

Hmm so its possible that some people are front plate-less completely legally, interesing... So if they were pulled over for not having a front plate, as soon as the cop saw the green plate he'd let them go? Not fair.
