That's why I moved to PA. :D

Dealers will have them. Members in states like PA might still have theirs. I threw mine out.

Dont put the front plate on. I have not had a front plate for 5 years (13 months in the rx8) and have had no problems.

My argument - it looks stupid. If I wanted something that looks stupid, I could have saved 10 grand and bought an SRT4.

leave it in the trunk and tell the cop you're waiting on the brace from the dealer

that's sooooo funny :D

I live in NY too, have had the eight for 1 week. no front plate...i do not drive a lot and putting a plate in the front is ugly as hell. I'll use the 'waiting for the plate-holder from dealer' excuse

Does that solution effect Airflow? In Colorado it is not a big offense. Parking cops will ticket you $15 dollars, and State Patrol will use it as a reason to pull you over and look for warrants.

what if you're out of state w/o front license plate, parked in NYS/NYC? [but the plate is required in the state your car is from, like MA]

...

I think Iowa requires a front plate, too... and I'm REALLY considering doing away with mine. The plate in the trunk + "waiting for license plate holder" excuse sounds pretty good to me.

I happen to live in NY, and neither myself nor many people I know with other sports cars that do not have a front plate on, have ever gotten tickets, over the course of years without front plates. At least here on Long Island, they don't seem to care to harass people about the front plate. Just don't drive stupidly around a cop, and you're fine. Give them a reason to pull you over, and they'll probably tack on the no front plate.

I will continue with my plate on the bracket, in the trunk, with dead bugs from when it was on a previous car and mangled screw holes, incase I ever get pulled over.

Yeah well I don't really know for sure how it is in other European countries.

But I'm pretty sure, that they all need a front and back licence plate.

I know we do here in Belgium (IT SUCKS BIGTIME).

P.S. the speedcamera's here in Belgium can flash you from the back AND the front

Yeah, here in Los Angeles, especially my city (Glendale) they are hard core about it. I had it off for about 6 months, but with the mods I have, the last thing I need is for the police to pull me over for no front plate, and make me pop my hood. Put it back on. I agree the RX8 is much better without it, but I'm dead if I get pulled over now.

knight7, maybe you should stop assuming your ethnicity has anything to do with any encounters or problems you may have with the police. Perhaps your driving is the cause of any attention you receive from the boys in blue. I hate to tell you but all of us "white people" on Long Island rack up plenty of tickets, it just so happens that no front plate is not one of the main offenses. I guess that the cops ignore the fact that we're white for the other offenses, but let us slide on the front plates. Please, if all of us don't get over what ethnicity we are, and start treating everyone with the same respect, we'll just continue building rifts between groups. You should be proud of your heritage, not use it as a crutch.

I live in NY as well and it really does suck. I didnt have my plate on my old 8 for a year and than I bought my Shinka, I didnt have it on and then I went for an interview and my investigator commented about it, so I decided that if Im trying to get a job I should pull up breaking the law. SO I put it on but it does suck looks so much more nicer without it. Now with my old old car, my civic I didnt put it on cause I had a bodykit and I got pulled over continuously, though I didnt get a ticket, thats the good part about being a pretty blonde.....lol............

I just accept the fact that I have to have one on there and just move on. I don't see the need to give them an easy reason to pull me over.

Luckily the color on the top part of the plate blends in very well with my Velocity Red car, so it doesn't look too bad.

Most states require a front plate...it's not like you're the only one

it's a small thing, and i'd be happier with the 50 bucks instead of giving it tot he police dept.

I live in Ohio and my front plate is coming off when I get the RB intake/duct kit. The sole reason there is a front plate is so that the police can id your vehicle when you are oncoming to them. Now my opinion, and my opinion alone is, that government agencies as a whole have gained too much autonomy. Politicians have forgotten that they are there for the people and should represent the majority and not their own whims. Last time I checked, no citizen was ever asked if they wanted front plates or even felt there was an overwhelming need for them. There are way too many bullshit nit picky laws and regulations out there.
