Arrow NYRA Final Meet on October 8th, 2006 @ Bear Mountain!

Hello guys this is your captain speaking. Please sit tight and hold on cuz were going for another ride.

By popular demand we will be having a Final meeting to outdue the Last meeting. Everyone (69 Rotary cars) + lots of people have requested for the 9-17-2006 meet NOT to be the final meet for the 2006 season. So this is for you guys (ya cant flake now!).

The meet shall be held in Bear Mountain State Park located 45 minutes away from NYC and a little over an hour from Albany. We picked the spot because it sits perfectly between the capital and the biggest city in NY.

For those of you who live in NYC and LI do not be discouraged, its not as far as it seems, its only 45 minutes doing the speedlimit! The upstate fellows come from syracuse and albany to NYC we gotta show some rotary respect and love and hold something a lil more convenient to our bretheren.

So the details are October 8th 2006 at 9:00am Sharp at Bear Mountain State Park. We will be going to Parking Lot # 2. The parking fee is $6 per car (since its a state park, but its well worth it). The parking area is to the right hand side which is conveniently located by Bathrooms, Ample picnic tables , and beautiful trees. Unlike FMP we are close to our cars and our foods which is a win win scenario.

Directions from NYC & LI is as follows:

NOTE: There will be a Pre-meet location for the caravan to Bear Mtn. The pre meet location is on 92nd Street and Astoria Blvd in East Elmhurst Queens NY. We will be at the BURGER KING Parking Lot. From there we will follow the directions listed below:

** Please dont say that i didnt post directions!!! **

1. Either Triboro Bridge ($4.50) or Queensboro Bridge ($0.00) to FDR Drive NorthBound

2. FDR to Harlem River Drive Northbound heading towards the George Washington Bridge (GWB)

3. GWB upper level to exit 74 for the Palisades Interstate Parkway Northbound

4. Stay on PIP till it ends. You will need to pass exit 19 and continue on the 2 lane road.

5. Make a right at the Round about towards "Haverstraw" (9W South, Route 202 West).

6. Continue up the hill, bearing right at the light.

7. Pull into the second parking lot (LOT 2) on the right hand side, adjacent to the lodge (Parking is $6.00 per car)

As always Anil (Kaot1k) and Tommy (BklynRX7) will be bringing their grills and anyone can use them to cook their food.

I am not in charge of the food list so just to be safe, Bring your own food. For those of you who have attended our previous meets, everyone contributes what they can and therefore can share in everyones food.

Oops forgot the pre-meet time. Well to ensure we get there on time i suggest we meet up 15 minutes before 8:00am. So that when 8:00am hits we will be on our merry way to the Bear Mountain. Its a nice drive!!!!!!!!!!

REPOSTED FROM RX-7 CLUB!

Good morning/evening wherever you might be,

The amount of food at the final FMP meet was just horrible. 12 burgers and 10 pieces of corn that I purchased, a packaged of hot dogs someone brought, 2 pkgs of bratwurst that tommy brought and some wonderful homemade potato salad . I will not let the final meet be a failure. You will choose what to bring. If you want to bring more awsome but thats up to you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart no matter what you bring as long as you bring something. Everyone shares here. I don't want anyones money at the meet to buy food. Spend the few dollars that u want to give me on something good so we all could enjoy it. All of us will eat what everyone brings. 0 = 0

Hamburgers- always a big hit. remember close to 70 hungry men and women. 12 burgers just didn't cut it last time. 2 or 3 people should be claiming of bringing this as I type.

Hot dogs- whoever brought this at fmp thank you the big package of hot dogs went really well. Not as popular as hamburgers 1 big package and 1 regular shall make due.

Hamburger /hot dog buns- whoever buys this should talk with the hamburger/hotdog buyers. get phone numbers emails faxes. We have this forum to talk to one another lets talk. amount of buns should not exceed the amount of food putting on the bun. Pigeons and squirrels by me will not eat any more of what i throw at them.

Drinks- Most likely I'll be bringing 2 (12 packs) of Ice tea on sale from my local supermarket. Always disappears at the meet. Water, gatorade, soda is welcome and needed. More the merrier.

Coolers- anyone has an extra coolers to bring awesome. more food and drinks to keep frosty. :-)

Corn - Veggies and meat eaters unite. We all love corn . And corn loves us. So please claim me and bring me to the meet.

Ice- everyone should bring. yuppers just bring it.

cheese - tommy no more deli cheese slices. Some one will claim this and bring the pre wrapped ones.

Bratwurst- All you tommy. claim it .

Chicken- Anil makes some bad *** chicken. Let us know if chicken is on the menu.

chips and cookies- somehow cookies and chips find their way to the meets so no worries about this.

Lighter fluid- at the end of the fmp meet we still had a bottle.

Lighter- 50 cents at corner stores claim me for I am important .

charcoal- iffy on how much we have left. tom anil and jason should tell us on the situation.

plates/napkins/cups- 99 cent store - A person's best friend

Tomatoes/onions/lettuce- claim me for a burger is nothing without me.

anything else i'm forgetting or you have something else in mind bring it but tell us that your bringing it so we know and tell others not to.

much rotary love,

Larry aka nyramx6
(87 blue rx7 se)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lets have an RX-8 Food list and i will combine them with the Rx-7 food list. All that contribute can eat. If you dont want to contribute thats okay just come prepared we dont want you to pass out. Even if you dont bring somethng im sure we will still give ya food but to show rotary respect bring something anything. homeade Pie (the clean version) or some water, special brownies etc....
SHould be a nice turnout (not as big as FMP) but still a nice 40 car turnout!
Joy and me will be there. I think Bear Mountain has moutain biking so I'll be coming to the meet with a roof mounted bike rack! I'll be prepared for the co-operative BBQ situation.
Oh and like I said Jay, I'll bring my camera so I can help you out. I plan on involving the women in this club with the rides of their repective male counterparts!
When / where do you go night time cruising?
And by cruising do you mean finding empty twist roads and taking them at more the 10 miles over the speed limit?
On a normal night i start off on whitestone expressway till cross island going towards long island. Then i do 125mph from Bell BLVD to Northern BLVD. Then i get out on northern get back on cross island and jump on the van wyck expressway towards JFk. Do a good 110mph run. Then from there i run on Belt Parkway towards brooklyn till exit 13 or so. Then come back towards JFK. Then i jump back on Van Wyck going towards LGA and i jump on GCP and do 130mph or so. Get off Grand Central onto the BQE going towards brooklyn. Then i continue and take Williamsburg Bridge to Lower East side. From the lower east side i jump on the FDR drive going northbound to Harlem River Drive. From Harlem River Drive i get in the SOuth Bronx using the madison avenue bridge . Then i take the West side higway all the way down town and wrap around the CITY. Back onto the Queenborobridge to Northern Blvd back home.
I do many different runs like this, but mostly to speed. No twisties round me.
When ever i enter long island cops begin to follow me so i stay on valleystream and back home!
I will be bringing up a Coleman stove so please put that on the list of equipment you have available to you. I can toast buns, saute vegetables, fry eggs, or cook and cut cocaine. I'm a little uncertain about what to bring to the meet though. I'll just figure out something different and bring enough of it for 10 people? I'll scrutinize the nyrotary forum.
Oh and this time I'll make sure Joy makes rotary inspired cup cakes for our resident cake lover.
The 120 + cruisin' and the views sound and look incredible. I'm looking forward to both.
Oh and I need to be reppin' NYrotary so please bring a carbon fiber sticker for me. If no CF then 24K gold will do!
Yo Jay I move to bayside on Oct 28th (this Thursday). Forget about crusin for the first two months with me because I'll be too busy on Northern Blvd eating at Papa's/Mama's Empanadas! I missed South American (Colombian) food living out in Jersey!
Wow, are you serious? You never get caught? Those are prison speeds.
But dude, if you do this sort of thing regularly, I'd love to join you! I'm near Northern and the Cross Island.
nice to meet you tonight ark and smokey. I think it was an okay night for it being T&T. We did 4 , 100mph + runs. My best speed was 129mph =).
It was a fun night, just sucks the rain kicked in, and that big accident on Grand Central Parkway by LGA airport. THat truck was 0on FIRE. Hope there was no 1 inside.
Well do it again on a nicer night. Today wasnt as bad.
Like how i know where the 5-0 will be right. So now ya know my word is bond bout the 120mph+ night runs.
In the fall season it gets harder beleive it or not, cops are more on the prowl for speeders.
Again Smokey and Ark nice to meet ya tonight, see ya soon.
P.S Post up those pics
Hey RR,
That was tons of fun. I kept being in the wrong gear so I was always left behind. XD
I didn't go quite as fast as RR but lets just say over a buck by a fare bit. Not bad for this being the first manual I've owned, (Got it 2 months ago).
Don't know what's up with the picts will contact Ark later.
That crash was pretty impressive. Dark smoke billowing up into the sky. Must have happened like 13 minutes earlier. Just enough time for cops + fire trucks to get there, but not completely put everything out.
Yeah we did over 100mph runs cause ark said he was doing 112mph and he was all the way in the back. I figured he didnt want to let you get lost, so he stuck back there but ya was hauling *** tooo lol.
That accident was crazy...I was trying to see if i saw anyone in the car but that fire was still intense when we passed thru it the smell was heavy. Thats why i sped off not to long after we passe the cop in the far left lane, and the motorcycle guy woudlnt move so i went around him doing 108mph =). Then he blew passed me.
I still think we had a good night even though it was hot(hot meaning lots of police presence) out.
Well see ya soon kid. Let me drive the 8, ill let you drive the 7 =)
Ya coming to my bear mtn meet right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
