why would you wanna wet sand your stock hood and trunk? just polish it using rubbing compound and then coat it with wax.. haha Tomcat, i know how to restore a dulled carbon fiber hood so let me know if you want to do it (takes like 6 hours tho)

You can see the difference here..
The part on the left (fender) is without orange peel, and on the right (door) is what orange peel is.. look at the little circles..
If I had the ***** to wetsand my own paint I would do this..

Rotary buffers are scary.... leave it on for a few seconds too long, or put on the wrong speed and poof, there goes your clearcoat and possibly your paint.
Wet sanding (and dry sanding, which I'm technically doing) is a lot safer by hand, just a hell of a lot slower and tedious. Using 1500 grit for the main sand, and 2000 for the finish, you should be able to get it nice and flat without worrying about oversanding.
I've been trying to learn as much about it as possible before I attempt it.

Also, not all stock paint jobs are that bad lol... for example, certain parts of my car doesn't have pronounced orange peels. But my trunk definitely has, and that's like the second prettiest part of the car
