Recommendation for MD/VA Dealership

I'm looking to get an rx8 within the next month. Anywhere within an hour of the DC metro area is fine. Can someone recommend a dealership and if possible tell me what kind of deal you got, or what kind of deal I should be looking for?

(if this should be in the dealership forum, sorry)

I had good luck at Whitten Bros in Southside of Richmond.

Spend some time at www.edmunds.com to learn about buying a new car. Use the internet. Communicate by email with the dealer before going there in person. You can use Mazda's web site to find the car you want and what dealer has it.

There are a couple of dealers in Northern VA that participate in Costco's auto buying program... you may have good luck going that route- but not with the dealer in Fredricksburg.

Fitzgerald here in Frederick has several on their lot that are discounted $1500-$3000 from the sticker price. It's just about enough that I've thought of selling mine and buying a new one since I paid sticker for mine. Warranty work can be done by any dealer - I wouldn't recommend driving all the way up here for that part of it!

I went to Mazda on 29/Cherry Hill Rd near College Park/Silver Spring - not much of a selection and they're not dealing. Plus all their salesmen are dolts. Then I went to Rockville Mazda on 355 near 28 - about six cars there, mostly base or sport. Gaithersburg Mazda near Montgomery Village Av/355 had by far the best selection, about 15 to 20 RX-8s, all colors, wide variety of packages. And I bought at a couple hundred above invoice - just stand your ground, and be confident and ready to walk, and you'll do fine there. They're not the most honest, but if you do your research in advance, you can deal with them. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Thats a darcars. please don't buy from a darcars. Best bets are Brown's in fairfax or alexandria or rosenthal in tyson's corner http://www.finishlineperformance.com/

Got mine at Rich Morton Mazda in Pasedena Md. Internet princing was good and so far the service has been great.
I keep hearing good things about Brown's in Va.
The advice to go to Edmunds.com is good. The site will help you determine if the dealer is offering a good deal or not. Don't follow their TVM pricing. Look for something around invoice.

Bought mine at Brown's Faifax. Was in there about two-three weeks ago and they had 30+ RX-8s mostly fresh off the truck/boat with port stickers still on. The selection was leaning towards the Ti Grey and Sun Silver but they had at least 2 (nordic green was only 2, 1 auto 1 mt) of every color except yellow. Varying trim packages and appearance options.

I bought from Rich Morton in Glen Burnie. The sales guy was a young punk kid. I think I was his first sale. Hell, he didn't even spell his own name right on the forms. BUT, they gave it to me for less than I was going to ask for, and gave me more for my trade-in than I thought it was worth. (02 VW GTI 1.8T)

They had EXACTLY what I wanted in stock. (Blue 6 speed, spare tire, everything else base) with a ton of others in their back lot. They only have 6 or 7 up by the street.

The parts department has been very helpful whenever I need anything.

My advise is go through the internet department. They offer the best deals. Just email the dealerships in your area through there website. Personally I went to Rosenthal Mazda. Then my wife started working at Landmark Honda and that when I found out about how cheap the internet pricing is. Plus this way you can send quotes from one dealership to the other and have them match it or beat it and you can do this from home. Good Luck.

Interestingly enough, I had a horrible experience with Whitten, so I went with Capitol in Richmond's West End. I think, perhaps, my problem at Whitten was the sales guy, Charlie Brown, since I keep hearing other people had a good experience. So if you go down here, just stay away from that guy.

Pls DO NOT go to the jerks at rosenthal mazda tyson's.

Browns at Fairfax is highly recommended, preferable deal with the internet sales.

Had a good experience with Internet Dept. at (Rosenthal's) Arlington Mazda, but that was more than a year ago now. Service Dept. has been good, both on previous cars and on the RX8.

I had a positive experience buying my 8 at Congressional Mazda in Rockville. Steve Prescott is the internet sales manager and is terrific to deal with -- responsive to questions and concerns, quick to return phone calls, and always conscientious. Congressional's service department seems a little overworked sometimes -- it's a big shop -- but even so I have had no problems.

I bought mine at Koons just off the beltway back in March. They weren't dealing but had lots of cars to choose from (maybe 20+). I was excited though and got to drive it home that day (of course then I got to drive it back to have some bumper repair done - one thing just make sure you check the bumpers front and back - they park the cars so close front to back that most of them had marks/gouges in their bumpers). I wasn't real impressed with their after sales service though. I worked with the service dept. at Fitzgerald's in Annapolis a couple of times (1st oil change and some AC issues) and was pretty happy with most of it (although last time I was there they didn't provide the m flash - I'll try again next time).

I just bought a new RX-8 at Rosenthal Tysons from Zia Noory. Good experience and they gave me what I wanted at about 3-400$ over invoice.

I would NOT recomend the Congressional Mazda Dealership on 355-Rockville Pike. My Dad bought has car there, had a good expereince buying the car however he's taken it in twice for service. The first time they forgot to attach a ring of some sort that caused a gas leak in the car. The second team they forgot to reconnect the front sway bar....

I've had good experience with Rosenthal, try them.

Good thing I'm not the only one. I have had numerous problems with them. They damaged my wheels, replaced my headlight and didnt align it properly, couldnt hear the squeaking brakes yeah right, forgot to screw the front driver side rotors back in. I have a friend that works at Rosenthal Mazda he said not to take it there cuz majority of their good mechanics went to Arlington. That said I'm going to Arlington to have my car service.

If you get a chance to go down to Fredricksburg, Bill Britt off of rte 1. They have about 6 new 05's and a couple 04's.

They are very open to letting you test drive with no question asked etc. Easy to talk with and no pressure. Pretty good on prices to.

I got mine from Gaithersburg Mazda (Rosenthal). I had a good experience except for the F&I guy who used strong arm tactics to try to sell me a higher interest loan.
I have had very good experience with the service department.

Ask for Jon Benson, sales guy. Secure your own financing and only talk to the F&I about rebates only. If he starts trying to sell you, walk out...

I got my Shinka at Rosenthal in Arlington. The GM's name is Terry and he is a great guy. Their service dept is first rate. Got $2k off the sticker. They had a couple of 04's on the lot and I am sure they will bargain on those. Tell Terry that his Insurance guy sent you. He will take care of you! Email me if you want more info.
